Charles J. Carr

Peru — Mr. Charles J. Carr, 77, of Route 9, Peru and Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 11, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., on March 15, 1925, the son of Charles J. and Edith (Gibeau) Carr.

Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He made landings on the Marshal Islands, Saipan and Tinian in the Marianas Islands and Iwo Jimo.

He worked for New York State Electric and Gas retiring in 1987 as a U. C. & M. foremen after 41 years of service. He is a life member Fourth Marine Division Association, Erie Chapter 40 of the Marine Corps. League, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2121 of Port Charlotte, Fla., Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 2606 Punta Gorda, Fla.

In his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and traveling. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Charles was predeceased by his first wife, Peg Hamelin who died in 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Cecilia (Scrime) Carr of Peru and Punta Gorda, Fla.; seven daughters and their spouses, Susan and Mike Lawson of Peru, Nancy and Glen Elmore of Lousia, Va., Janice and Dick Gumtow of San Diego, Calif., Betty and Larry Ebere of Rouses Point, Judy and Kenny Otis of Cornwall, Pa., Toma and Mickey Mattot of Mooers Forks and Joni Styles and her companion, Chris Barcomb of Plattsburgh; a stepdaughter, Stephanie and Jorge Riveros of Longmont, Colo.; a stepson, David Lavigne and his companion, Sara Sharp of Peru; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Carr of Plattsburgh; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Ronald B. Goheens

Plattsburgh — Ronald B. Goheens, 60, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 23, 1942, the son of Bernard W. and Juanita E. (Kube) Goheens.

Ronald was employed for many years as a service technician at Sears in Plattsburgh. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, the former Marie M.K. Mihill, of Plattsburgh; a son and a daughter-in-law, Jamey and Amy Goheens of Morrisonville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Tara and David Bubar of Schenectady, Tina Lysek of Lake Placid, Jeanie and John Hancock of Massachusetts and Theresa Goheens of Ausable Forks; his mother, Juanita Goheens of Virginia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Ernest Sharpe of Virginia and Jackie and George Zimmerman of Chesapeake, Md.; 17 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His father died before him.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at the Bread of Life Baptist Church in Plattsburgh, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Wayne McNeill presiding. Musical selections were played by Kelly Hodgson. Pallbearers were Edward Millie, Edward Crumrine, Gary Hodgson, Gary Raykiewicz, Todd Hodgson and Fred Grant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family

Arrangements are with the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Dorothy Gertrude Salphine

TICONDEROGA, N.Y. —Dorothy Gertrude Salphine, 77, of Ticonderoga, N.Y., died on March 2, 2002, as a result of a heart attack.

Mrs. Salphine was born Jan. 13, 1925, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., the daughter of John Charles McClure and Sylvia Gertrude (Bennett) McClure.

She is survived by a sister, Martha Backus of Ticonderoga, N.Y., and a brother, David O. McClure of Canandaigua, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Andrew Salphine; one sister, Anna-Mae DeFrane; and three brothers, Denis Chapman, Slayton McClure, Charles J. McClure. Also a brother, Jesse James McClure of Rushville, N.Y., died on March 30, 2002.

A memorial service will be held on April 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the new Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 145 Burgoyne Rd., Ticonderoga, N.Y.

Her smile and loving hugs will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Her passing leaves an empty place in many lives. But as Jesus said: "You will be with me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43) We love you Dottie!

MARIE J. HUNTINGTON, 52, Ticonderoga Town Justice, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at her residence.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. A full obituary will appear in tomorrow’s paper.

Robert H. Thomas, 74, of the Franklin Street Road, Malone, N.Y., died unexpectedly Monday, April 15, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Malone, Sept. 13, 1927, the son of the late Floyd and Grace (Hunter) Thomas.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in Malone.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.

Charles D. Ford, 89, a resident of the Farrar Home in Malone, N.Y., and formerly of Bangor and Wassaic, N.Y., died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone. He had been a patient there since April 8, 2002.

He was born in Bangor, March 1, 1913, the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Adams) Ford.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be Thursday, April l8, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, with Donald Yeddo, lay minister of the Centenary Methodist Church, Malone, officiating. Burial will be in Bangor Cemetery, Bangor, N.Y.
