Emma D. Baker

Plattsburgh — Emma D. Baker, 79, formerly of Adirondack Lane, passed away Friday, April 12, 2002, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ausable Forks on April 1, 1923, the daughter of Salvodore and Angela Rita (DeSimone) Cichella.

Emma was a member of St. John's Parish in Plattsburgh. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and aunt.

Emma is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Deborah Baker of Plattsburgh, David and Susan Baker of Plattsburgh and Jeffrey and Lisa Baker of Whitehall; a daughter, Angela Lambert of Albany; one sister and a brother-in-law, Lena and Earl Thompson of Dennisport, Mass.; nine grandchildren, Jim, Brian, Kimberly, Shelly, Jessica, Jennifer, Kasey, David and Konnor; four great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind many cherished and loved family and friends who will remember her for her compassion and genuine love for all who knew her. Emma possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for sharing it wherever she went.

Emma was predeceased by her husband, David Baker, on July 31, 1991.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Those wishing to remember Emma may make a donation in her name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.

Donald F. (Husky) Betters

Malone — Donald F. (Husky) Betters, 77, of Malone, died Thursday, April 12, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.

He was born in Malone on March 30, 1925, the son of William and Cora (Cook) Betters.

He attended Malone Schools and joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 18. He served in World War II from 1942 to 1945 and received the Purple Heart Medal.

He married the former Phyllis Chauvin at Notre Dame Church on July 19, 1947. He worked as a conductor for Conrail railroads for 37 years, retiring in 1985.

He was an active member of the Malone Amvets, past commander of the GI Club, American Legion Post 219, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the local firing squad.

He was an exceptional athlete and enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, bowling, pool and was a devoted Yankee fan.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Phyllis of Malone; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald A. Scott and Gary and Monique Betters, all of Malone, Jerry and Lori Betters of Allentown, Pa., and William and Sharon Betters of Syracuse; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Connie Basta of Little York, N.Y., Dorothy Phelix, Stephanie and Bruce Bannon, Terry and Arlington Collins and Tracy and Allen Gravell, all of Malone; 23 grandchildren; one great -grandchild; one sister-in-law, Helen Mallette; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Stephen Betters, on Nov. 1, 1973; and a brother, Oran Mallette.

Calling hours will be at the Spaulding Funeral Home in Malone on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph's Church. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Ronald B. Goheens

Plattsburgh — Ronald B. Goheens, 60, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 23, 1942, the son of Bernard W. and Juanita E. (Kube) Goheens.

Ronald was employed for many years as a service technician at Sears in Plattsburgh. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, the former Marie M.K. Mihill, of Plattsburgh; a son and a daughter-in-law, Jamey and Amy Goheens of Mineville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Tara and David Bubar of Schenectady, Tina Lysek of Lake Placid, Jeanie and John Hancock of Massachusetts and Theresa Goheens of Ausable Forks; his mother, Juanita Goheens of Virginia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Ernest Sharpe of Virginia and Jackie and George Zimmerman of Chesapeake, Md.; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His father died before him.

Calling hours will be Monday, April 15th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday from the Bread of Life Baptist Church, Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh, at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.

Eleanor L. Buckley

Morrisonville — Eleanor L. Buckley, 90, of Morrisonville, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Dec. 6, 1911, the daughter of Michael and Martha (Apel) Meyer.

She was a communicant of St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville and was also a member of the St. Alexander’s Altar - Rosary Society and the Knights of Columbus Council 6067 Ladies Auxillary.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William N. and Paiwen Buckley of Edgewater, Md.; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Ann and William Orchard of Morrisonville, Helen Buckley of Arlington, Va., Kathleen Deal of Kouts, Ind., Dolores and Gary Foote of Manchester N.H., and Cecilia Pekar of Ballston Spa; 16 grandchildren; and many great - grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Emmett Buckley, died on Sept. 13, 1996, and a sister, Otilda Meyer, also died in 1996.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday from St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Yaulanda Manginelli, 47, of State Route 37, Fort Covington, N.Y., died Friday, April 12, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y. She had been a patient there since April 10th.

She was born in Stockton, Calif., on Oct. 15, 1954, the daughter of Anthony and Connie (Guiliano) Manginelli.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone, N.Y.

Pauline I. Lucia, of Park Place in Schenectady, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Guilderland Center Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Ms. Lucia was born in Chazy to the late Charles and Catherine (Rock) Lucia.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 16th, at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church on Union Street. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be private in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy, N.Y.
