Violet A. Willard

Saranac Lake — Violet A. Willard, 78, of Lake Flower Avenue in Saranac Lake and formerly of Whallonsburg, N.Y., died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

She was born in Essex, N.Y., on May 6, 1923, the daughter of Jeremiah and Lila (Stevens) Crowningshield.

She married Francis Benoit, who predeceased her in 1968. She later married Andrew Fred Willard on Nov. 2, 1980, in Whallonsburg, N.Y.

Mrs. Willard has been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1980. Prior to moving to Saranac Lake, she was a resident of Whallonsburg, N.Y., where she was a professional cake decorator. She was employed by the the Essex County Department of Social Services for 25 years, retiring in 1980 as activity director for Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y. Mrs. Willard was active in church and community affairs. She was a lifelong and charter member of the Whallonsburg Fire Department.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew F. Willard of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; one son, Dan Benoit of Whallonsburg, N.Y.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Claire Unwin of Brattleboro, Vt.; a sister-in-law, Polly Crowningshield of Whallonsburg, N.Y.; and several stepgrandchildren.

Calling hours will be at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a fireman’s prayer service held Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at the funeral home with Rev. Fetter and Rev. Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Friends wishing to remember Violet A. Willard may make memorial contributions to Bert Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Beulah I. Koktowski

CROWN POINT — Beulah I. Koktowski, 73, of Factoryville Road, Crown Point, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her home.

She was born June 7, 1928, in Middlebury, Vt., the daughter of Paul and Gwendolyn (Smith) Goyette. Beulah was a member of the Knapp Senior Citizen Center in Crown Point.

She is survived by her son, Raymond Koktowski of Naugatuck, Conn.; her daughters, Janice Moulton of Panton, Vt., Mary Griffin of Brandon, Vt., Anna Mosher of Fort Edward, N.Y., and Joyce Koktowski of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; her sisters, Veda Ashe and Elsie Swinton, both of Crown Point; her brothers, Harry Goyette of Crown Point and Bernard Goyette of Moore, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and several great -grandchildren.

Beulah’s husband, Mike Koktowski, died Jan. 22, 1986.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 8, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Beulah’s name to the Knapp Senior Citizen’s Center in Crown Point.
