Jason R. Anctil

ROUSES POINT — Jason R. Anctil, 20, of Rouses Point, passed away Monday, April 1, 2002, in Providence, R.I.

Jason was loved so much by his family and many friends. He was such a fun loving young man who loved life itself. He enjoyed soccer through high school and was attending his second year at Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, N.Y. Jason had many plans to pursue in the future and was really looking forward to starting to achieve them.

Jason will be dearly missed forever by his sister, Mom and Dad and all of his family and friends.

He is predeceased by his two grandfathers, Rene Anctil Sr. and Donald Wood.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Rosemary Anctil of Rouses Point; one sister, Angela Marie Anctil of College Station, Texas; two grandmothers, Marion Anctil of Rouses Point and Elizabeth Hamel of Melbourne, Fla.; several aunts and uncles, Craig and Marie Farnsworth of Clifton Park, Rene Jr. and Cheryl Anctil of Rouses Point, Jimmy and Barbara Roberts of Champlain, Larry and Catherine Boulerice of Champlain, Roger and Carol Peets of Ellenburg, William and Gayle Anctil of Rouses Point, James and Julie Anctil of Champlain, Joe and Rose Wood of El Paso, Texas, David Wood of California, John and Jill Subik of Kingwood, Texas, Matthew Wood of Long Island and Billie Brogie of Texas; and several cousins.

Calling hours will be Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point Friday at 11 a.m.

Reverend Monsignor Herbert Joseph Hannan

OGDENSBURG — Reverend Monsignor Herbert Joseph Hannan, 88, died on Monday, April 1, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg on Thursday, April 4, 2002, at noon, Reverend Monsignor Robert Lawler, Vicar General of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, will preside at the Funeral Liturgy with the priests of the Diocese concelebrating. Calling hours were at Fox - McClellan Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 2, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. The body will be transferred to St. Mary’s Cathedral on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m., with evening prayer at 7 p.m. Calling hours will continue in the Cathedral until 9 p.m. Burial will take place this spring at St Mary’s Cemetery in Ogdensburg.

Monsignor Hannan was born in Westmount, Quebec, on Feb. 10, 1914, the son of the late Richard E. and Helen (Fitzgibbon) Hannan.

He attended St. Mary’s grade and high school in Ogdensburg. Monsignor then studied at Wadhams Hall, followed by theology studies at the Grand Seminary in Montreal. He then attended and graduated from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., in 1939. On June 3, 1939, Monsignor Hannan was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Francis J. Monaghan at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg.

After his ordination, Monsignor Hannan was appointed assistant pastor at St. Mary’s Church in Canton. In 1943, he was assigned assistant pastor at St. John the Baptist Church in Plattsburgh. While in Plattsburgh, he also served as principal of St. John’s High School. Monsignor was appointed pastor of St. Michael’s in Antwerp and St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia. in 1951. In 1957, he was named pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Brasher Falls. He became the pastor of Sacred Head Church in Massena in 1968. Eight years later, he was named pastor of St. Mary’s in Clayton. In addition to his pastorate in Clayton, he received additional duties as pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in LaFargeville in 1983.

In June of 1989, Monsignor Hannan retired from active priestly ministry and was named Pastor Emeritus of St. Mary’s Church in Clayton. Upon retirement, he resided at St. Patrick’s rectory in Brasher Falls, after living briefly at St. Mary’s rectory in Massena. For the past several years, Monsignor has been a resident of St. Joseph’s Home in Ogdensburg.

In addition to his parish assignments, Monsignor served the Diocese of Ogdensburg in several diocesan positions. He was Vicar for Religious from 1957 to 1969. Monsignor was elected to the Senate of Priests when it was first formed in 1966 and served as its second chairman from 1967 to 1969. He also served as a member of the College of Consultors and as Dean of St. Lawrence Deanery. In 1964, he was named a Domestic Prelate with the honorary title of Monsignor.

Monsignor Hannan is survived by two brothers, Thomas E. Hannan of Ogdensburg and Paul F. Hannan of Kirkland, Ohio; four sisters, Mary Dupont of Ogdensburg, Margaret Dollinger of Spencerport, N.Y., Elizabeth J. "Betty" Harman of Ogdensburg and Sister Kathleen Hannan, GNSH Of Watertown. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Monsignor was predeceased by two brothers, Richard J. and William J.

Allan Brian (Newfy) Young

PERU — Allan B. Young, 43, died April 2, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

Allan was born in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, Canada, on June 25, 1958. Allan was the son of Arnold Young of Ontario, Canada, and Shirley Young of 4 Lakeside Ct., Cliff Haven.

Allan attended Peru Central School.

He enjoyed outdoor entertainment of hunting, fishing, skiing, camping and attending his favorite nephew’s, Evan Walters, go cart races during the summers.

Survivors include wife, Lorraine Caron; two sons, Jacob of Peru and Dennis of Florida. Allan was also survived by his sister, Annette Ormsby and brother-in-law, Craig Ormsby of Schuyler Falls. A brother, Wilfred Young of Cliff Haven; nephews, Evan Walters of Schuyler Falls and Shawn and Heather Young of Morrisonville.

Allan was predeceased by a sister, Barbara M. Young.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church.

Calling hours will be Thursday, April 4, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Inc. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.

Inez LaFountain

WINTER HAVEN, FLA. — Inez P. LaFountain (McKenzie) 62, died Thursday, Mar 28, 2002, in Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Fla.

She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on Dec. 12, 1939.

She was predeceased by her foster parents, Augustus and Lillian Garrand; one brother, Leonard R. McKenzie; and one nephew, Walter McKenzie.

She attended Mooers Central School and graduated from Champlain Central School.

Survivors include her husband, Charles LaFountain of Winter Haven, Fla.; four sons, Gerald LaFountain of Schuyler Falls, N.Y., Charles LaFountain Jr. of Peru, N.Y., Brent LaFountain of Winter Haven, Gregory LaFountain of Cadyville, N.Y.; six daughters, Darlene Shaw of Winter Haven, Shelley Neil of Maine, Vickey LaFountain and Tammy LaFountain, both of Torrington, CT., Linda LaFountain of Morrisonville, N.Y., Kimberley Casagni of Litchfield, CT.; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Anne and Norman Duprey and Lillian and Ralph Cookman; two brothers and three sister-in-laws, Edward and Mary and David and Donna McKenzie and Geneva McKenzie; 25 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home Chapel, Winter Haven, Florida. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. James Minor Catholic Church, Cadyville, N.Y. on April 13, 2002, at 11 a.m. Burial will be on May 7, 2002, in the St. James Cemetery.

Sybil Agnes Haller, 89, of Harris Avenue, Albany, N.Y., and formerly of Bombay, N.Y., died Sunday evening, March 31, 2002, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. She had been a patient there since March 24, 2002.

She was born in Bombay, N.Y., Sept. 10, 1912, the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth (McKenna) Mulvana.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello - McKenzie and Cosgrove Futicral Home in Fort Covington, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Bombay, with the Rev. Kris Lauzon officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Ethel M. Connors, 83, of Webster Street, Malone, N.Y., died unexpectedly Monday, April 1, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

She was born in Malone, September 25, 1918, the daughter of the late William and Madge (Thomas) Johnson.

There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at a later date to be announced. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the Lake Titus Road in Malone at the time of the funeral service.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.

Ralph H. Benware, 90, of Route 30, Malone, N.Y., died early Tuesday morning, April 2, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He had been a patient there since Feb. 19, 2002.

He was born in Lake Titus, N.Y., Jan. 20, 1912, the son of the late Amos and Delphine (Page) Benware.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Helen’s Church in Chasm Falls. Burial will be in St. Helen’s Cemetery.
