Published 4/1/02Roger J. KyeaAuSABLE FORKS — Roger J. Kyea, 66, of Route 9N, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in AuSable Forks on July 11, 1935, the son of Jerry and Marie "Sawyer" Kyea. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated Kyea’s Disposal Service and was bus driver for AuSable Valley School until illness forced him to retire in 1994. He also was co-owner of Kyea’s Ceramics. He was a member of Holy Name Church and American Legion Post 504 in AuSable Forks. He also enjoyed bowling and was a past firefighter for the AuSable Forks Fire District and served as councilman and assessor for the Town of Black Brook. He is survived by his wife Donna M. (Rushia) Kyea, whom he married June 4, 1960. Also surviving are his children, Timothy Kyea and Tracey Howard of AuSable Forks, Lisa Kyea and Richard Haviland of Ohio, Daniel and Nicole Kyea of Ohio, and Gregory Roy Jr. and Cathy Roy of Peru; grandchildren, Heather Kyea of Pennsylvania, Marcus Kyea of Missouri, Caitlin and Nathan Roy of Peru, and Kyla and Tyler Kyea of Ohio; and a great granddaughter, Kalin Mongia of Pennsylvania. Brothers, sisters and spouses who survive are Floyd Kyea of AuSable Forks, Virginia and Tom Wray of Vestal, Gertrude Klubertanz of Rochester, Paul and Carolyn Kyea of Plattsburgh, Gail Kyea of Plattsburgh, Robert and Peggy Kyea of AuSable Forks, Marlene Kyea of Queensbury, and Marvin and Pam Kyea of AuSable Forks; also several nieces and nephews and many very close friends who have been there for him and his family through eight years of illness. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Wallace and Leonard Kyea, three sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church in AuSable Forks on Friday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Parish Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the R.K. Freedman Renal Center in Plattsburgh or the Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. James H. SnowBLACK BROOK — James H. Snow, 83, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born May 9, 1918, in Plattsburgh, the son of James N. and Elizabeth "Doyle" Snow. Jim was a master sergeant serving in the U.S. Army in Co. C. 363rd Engineer Special Services Regiment during World War II. He was the mail carrier for AuSable Forks and the surrounding areas for 50 years. He also was highway superintendent for the Town of Black Brook for several years. He was also employed at the Black Brook Missile Base installation for several years. Jim worked in construction, building highways and bridges. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn "Passino" Snow, whom he married on Oct. 22, 1946; two daughters, Janice Betters of Keeseville and Dona Warner of Massachusetts; two sons, Glenn Snow and Brian Snow, both of AuSable Forks; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Doris Noey; a brother, Keith Snow of Peru; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Two brothers, Curtis Snow and Roger Snow, predeceased him. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks. BURL, 87, of 5 Johnson Ave., Lake Placid, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She was born April 24, 1914, in the Town of Jay, the daughter of Burt R. and Lila (Banker) Williams. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the Pilgrim Holiness Church on Sentinel Road in Lake Placid with the Rev. Steven Mills, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. RUBY A. WHITE, 96, of 5 Cambray Court, Gouverneur, and formerly of Lawrenceville, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur. Born in Lawrenceville on Jan. 3, 1906, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Bugbee Cady. Calling hours will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home in North Lawrence. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gene Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Lawrencevill in the spring. Donations may be made in her memory to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. |
