Sanford I. "Bum" Baker Jr.

Plattsburgh — Mr. Sanford I. "Bum" Baker Jr., 59, of Eleanor Way, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Chazy on Aug. 27, 1942, the son of Sanford I. and Viola (Baker) Baker Sr.

Sanford had served in the U. S. Army from 1964 to 1966.

He had worked at Bow Industries until he became disabled and enjoyed taking drives and listening to country music.

He is survived by his mother, Viola Baker of Plattsburgh; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sanford I. Baker III of Plattsburgh and William and Joy Baker of Farmington, Conn.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Arthur Baker and his companion, Bonnie Skelly of Plattsburgh and Jack and Sharon Baker of Morrisville, N.Y.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sandra and Reginald Bressette of Westville, N.Y., Darlene and Roy Goddeau of Cadyville and Cindy Brunet and her fiancé, Douglas LaPorte of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Kyle, Kaitlyn and Shantel; and several nieces and nephews.

Sanford was predeceased by his father, Sanford Sr.; and a brother, Donald Baker.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. William G. Reamer, Catholic chaplain at CVPH Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in St. Augustine’s Cemetery.

Viola M. Trombley

PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Viola M. Trombley, 82, formerly of Apple Valley Senior Housing and Meadowbrook Health Care Facility, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Montreal, Canada, on April 27, 1919, the daughter of Erastus and Florence (Aird) Cook.

Viola had been a nurses aide at Sacred Heart Nursing Home and she was a member of St. Augustine’s Church in Peru.

She is survived by a sister, Thelma Weitzel of Detroit, Mich.; her nieces and nephews, Dell Weitzel, Rusty Weitzel, Clyde Cook, Ronnie Cook, Lawrence Cook, Dianna Weitzel, Sandra Desrochers and Alice Mark; great nieces, Dawn Short, Pamela Akey, Debra Stampfler, Tammy Metcalfe, Sherry Cook, Anna James and Christina Desrochers; great nephews, Timothy Stampfler, Ronald Cook, Duane Cook, Michael Rossi and Carl Crosby.

Viola was predeceased by her husband, Harry Trombley; her parents; and a brother, Sanford Cook.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A vigil service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will be at a later date in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Peru.

Raymond C. Baker Jr.

MORIAH, N.Y. — Raymond C. Baker Jr., 73, of the South Road, Moriah, formerly of East Meadow, N.Y., died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at the Community Hospital, Elizabethtown, N.Y.

He was born May 22, 1928, in New York City, the son of Raymond and Agatha (Carroll) Baker.

He retired from the NYC Transit Authority with 27 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines.

Beloved husband of Rita Ann Baker; Cherished father of Dian Zepada, Carroll Rickenbrode, Raymond C. Baker III, Clifford Baker, Jeanne Baker and Kathy Meader. He is also survived by two loving brothers, Thomas and Jimmy Baker; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren; and many in-laws.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Harland Funeral Home at a date and time to be announced.

Eldon M. Hoff

Ellenburg Center — Eldon M. Hoff, 83, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

He was born in Ellenburg on Oct. 24, 1918, the son of Everett and Katherine (Martell) Hoff.

He was a dairy farmer for many years.

He is survived by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Karl Hoff of Arizona, Paul and Syako Hoff of California and David and Cindy Hoff of Ellenburg Center; a sister, Carrol Smith of Ellenburg Center; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ellenburg Center at a later date.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Jolly, 77, of Meadowbrook Nursing Home, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at the nursing home.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home Inc. in Plattsburgh.
