Harold R. Robare

Morrisonville — Harold R. Robare, 66, of Pine Haven Road, Morrisonville, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Albany Medical Center.

He was born in Keeseville, July 30, 1935, the son of Rolland and Julia (Mitchell) Robare.

Mr. Robare was a cook at Mussen’s Diner in Keeseville for a time and also cooked at various others restaurants.

He enjoyed square dancing and playing bingo.

Survivors include several stepchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Robare of Keeseville; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Don Dobbs of Ogdensburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, the former Mary Gumlaw; and brothers, Thomas and Sherman.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A prayer service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the St. John’s Church.

Ovid E. (Babe) Facteau Jr.

Redford — Ovid E. (Babe) Facteau Jr., 80, died Monday March 25, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Beekmantown on July 12, 1921, the son of Ovid Facteau Sr. and Lena (Collins) Facteau.

Survivors include two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Andrew and Barbara Facteau of Saranac, Howard and Carmen Facteau of Redford and Joan Facteau also of Redford; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Alice Cringle of Cadyville, Mildred and Irving Rock also of Cadyville, Barbara and Wayne Sorrell of Schenectady and Ronnie Rabideau of Riverview; and many nieces and nephews survive.

A sister, Monica Rabideau; and a brother, Clement Facteau, died before him.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.

David N. Stone

Morrisonville — David N. Stone, 73, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 1, 1928, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Bisson) Stone.

Survivors include his wife, the former Rita Burnell of Morrisonville; a brother, Willard Stone of Plattsburgh; 10 sisters, Marion Anderson of Burlington, Vt., Myrtle Duquette, Patricia Baker, Cecile Stone, and Priscilla Dennis all of Plattsburgh, Doris Provost and her husband, Eugene of West Chazy, Florence Stone of Beekmantown, Nancy Stone of Plattsburgh, Pearl Spagnola and her husband, Peter of Syracuse and Ginny Miller of Plattsburgh; three brothers-in-law, Clarence Burnell of Plattsburgh, Ross Burnell of Cadyville and Harold Burnell of Morrisonville; a sister-in-law, Bertha LaPorte of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 27, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at the O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 8 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Violet Downes

EL PASO, TEXAS — Mrs. Violet May Downes, 99, widow of Reverend Paul Downes Sr., died March 24, 2002.

Mrs. Downes was born Nov. 27, 1902, in Camden, N.J.

The second oldest of 14 children, she worked as an accountant and office manager until her marriage in 1936.

She was a graduate of Philadelphia College of the Bible and served as a missionary to Nicaragua with her husband from 1936 to 1941.

She lived in Vermont, New York and Ohio, where her husband served as pastor of several churches and where many dear friends remain.

She is survived by her son, Paul L. Downes Jr., of Scotia, N.Y.; her daughter, Violet M. Gilson and son-in-law, Byron Chesbro of El Paso, Texas; and by eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Seddon and Grace Unrath; by her brother, Lawrence Humes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at her El Paso home from 3 to 8 p.m. March 27, 2002. A memorial service will be at the Unitarian Community, 4425 Byron Street, at 3 p.m. March 28, 2002. A short graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. March 30, 2002, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas.

Contributions in her memory should be made to the Beulah and Lee Moor Children’s Home.

James H. Fox

East Greenbush, NY —James H. Fox, 82, of Alva Street, died Monday at Albany Medical Center.

He was born in Paterson, N.J.

He lived many years in the Albany, N.Y., area working as a salesman for Chesapeake Packaging Co. Scotia, NY, before retiring in 1997.

Mr. Fox was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II

He was predeceased by daughter, Peggy Fox Huchro.

Survivors include beloved wife, Doris M. (Bachelor) Fox; one sister, Dorothy Klosk of Salisbury, N.Y.; son-in-law, John Huchro of Rouses Point; two grandchildren, Christopher (Eve) Huchro and Michael (Lisa Ames) Huchro. He is also survived by two great- grandchildren, Aiden and Gabriel Huchro.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, N.Y., or Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home, 146 Lake St.. Rouses Point, NY. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain, N.Y. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday at 11 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point.

E. Raymond Hale, 77, of Lafayette Street in Ogdensburg, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Claxton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Feb. 11, 1925, the son of Kenneth and Lucille (Premore) Hale.

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 28, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Burial will take place later this spring in the parish cemetery.
