(Rock) Mooney, 48, of Elizabeth Street, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt., surrounded by her family. She was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 13, 1953, the daughter of Hubert E. and Joyce (Gload) Rock. Susan was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge. During her many years of illness, she enjoyed playing scrabble, yahtzee and crossword puzzles. Susan is survived by one son, Shawn Mooney of Plattsburgh; her ex-husband and dear friend, Reggie Mooney of Albany, N.Y., her parents, Herb and Joyce Rock of Plattsburgh; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Cindy Connor of Plattsburgh, Laurie Rock of Plattsburgh and Brenda and Dan Munson of Plattsburgh; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Raney and Sandy Rock of Plattsburgh, Robert and Jane Rock of Hawaii and Tim and Michelle Rock of Rutland, Vt.; 14 nieces and nephews; and two great-nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 24, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, March 25, 2002, at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in the Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh. Following the burial there will be a reception at the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to the Hospice of the North Country. William L. "Bill" SeaverPlattsburgh — Mr. William L. "Bill" Seaver, 83, of Pike Street, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Washington, DC on July 14, 1918, the son of William E. and Edith (Feeman) Seaver. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force 1941 to 1963 retiring as a Command Pilot at the rank of Lt. Colonel. He then taught at Beekmantown Central School retiring in 1983. Bill was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621, a life member of the Elks National Foundation, the American Legion Post 20, a life member of the American Military Retirees Association, the New York State Retired Teachers Association and he was an avid follower of financial markets. He married the former Margaret Dunbar in Alburg, Vt., on June 21, 1958. He was predeceased by her on Aug. 12, 2000. Bill is survived by a son, William M. Seaver of Crescent City, Calif.; a stepson, Louis W. Lalla of Antelope, California; and a stepdaughter and her husband, Deborah I. and Steven (Lalla) Beal of Larkspur, Calif. There will be no calling hours. Following cremation, entombment will be in Arlington National Cemetery with his wife, Margaret. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Viola M. MurcrayAUSABLE FORKS — Viola M. Murcray, 91, formerly of the Murcray Road, the Senior Citizens Housing of AuSable Forks and the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Plattsburgh. She was born Aug. 5, 1910, in Lake Placid, the daughter of Robert and Grace (Pray) Forbes. She attended school in AuSable Forks. Viola was employed as a cook at the CVPH Medical Center, Keene Valley Hospital and than for a private family in Keene Valley, than she retired. Her joys in life were knitting, sewing, cooking, canning and family gatherings. She is survived by three daughters, Katherine Stone of Plattsburgh, Ruth Hamilton of AuSable Forks and Agnes and Emil Allen of Sawyer, Okla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Doris Forbes of AuSable Forks; and a sister, Gracelyn Harmon of Albany; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by the following: her husband, John M. Murcray, whom she married June 30, 1928; her son, Philip Murcray; and two sons-in-law, Marvin Hamilton and Norman Stone. Calling hours will be Friday, March 22, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Jay Central Cemetery. Memorials to her may be made to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service. Helen M. BerryCLIFTON PARK / SARANAC — Helen M. Berry, 93, formerly of Chancellor London Square, Clifton Park and Saranac, died peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, N.Y., on March 20, 2002. Prior to her recent hospitalization at St. Mary’s, she was residing at the Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Clifton Park. Helen was a native of Nashville, N.Y., in the Town of Saranac. She was born on Sept. 5, 1908, the last surviving child of three daughters and four sons born to Fred and Jane (Bruce) Newton. Helen was a graduate of Dannemora High School and the Watertown School of Commerce. For 25 years, she was a secretary for Bausch & Lomb in Rochester, N.Y. She married William D. Berry in Salem, N.H., in 1941. Mr. Berry was an engineer at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, where they resided for 30 years. In 1982, they moved to Clifton Park to be close to family. Mr. Berry died in 1990. Helen was a former member of Saranac United Methodist Church, the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Rochester and more currently a member of the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Senior Citizens Clubs in Rochester and Clifton Park. Helen loved to dance, dine with friends and travel. Survivors include three nephews, James F. Newton and his wife, Judy of Clifton Park, Bernard Newton and his wife, Mary of Scotia and Ellsworth Napper and his wife, Shirley of Saranac; and one niece, Jane Bull and her husband, Alvin of Saranac. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Saranac United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Saranac Independence Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Saranac United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in her memory. Norman Joseph WadeWillsboro — Norman Joseph Wade, 70, of Lake Shore Road died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Fletcher - Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. He was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Willsboro, N.Y., the son of Walter E. and Gladys (Daily) Wade Sr. He is survived by one brother, James Wade Sr. Of Willsboro; one sister, Evelyn Baker of Westport; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Guy Wade of Willsboro and Walter E. Wade Jr. of Willsboro; and a sister, Dorothy Wilber of Massachusetts. As per Norman’s wishes no calling hours or funeral services will be held. Burial will take place in Memorial Cemetery in Willsboro at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s memory may be made to the Willsboro Fire Department or Rescue Squad. W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements. Ethel E. Gonyea, 84, of Spruce Street, Malone, N.Y., died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone. She had been a resident there since Nov. 17, 2000. She was born in Malone, July 17, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Anna L. (Dumas) Gonyea. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in the parish cemetery later in the spring. |
