Christopher Alton Blood

Monkton, Vt. — Christopher A. Blood, 49, died accidentally early Monday morning, March 11, 2002.

He was born July 12, 1952, in Middlebury, Vt., the son of the late Edgar R. And Ardelle (Wiggin) Blood.

A native Vermonter and fifth generation mason Chris battled alcoholism most of his life finally winning in 1998. While living in Burlington, Vt., he became a well respected member of AA. He worked for many contractors in Vermont until finally venturing out on his own.

Chris enjoyed woodworking in his shop, hunting, poking around flea markets and yard sales, phoning in WOKO’s Sunday morning flea market, but his passion was fishing. He also could be found visiting with his many good friends and older brother, Robert, getting a haircut and kiss from his favorite sister-in-law, Jan.

Chris leaves behind his "big" brother, Robert and sister-in-law, Jan of Williston, Vt., a sister, Deborah L. Blood of Walpole, N.H.; a sister, Patricia Odell and her husband, Gus and their children of Rutland, Vt. He also leaves a daughter, Layla Coolidge and her husband, Greg of Brandon, Vt.

At the families request, in lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Chris’s name to Maple Leaf Farm or Alcoholics Anonymous.

Rose Sauther, 89, of the Franklin County Nursing Home, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at that facility.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, March 16, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Church in Malone. Msgr. C.J. McAvoy officiating. Spring burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone. Arrangements are with St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home in Malone.
