SampleMooers Forks — Alma Marie Sample, 89, of Mooers Forks, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh to meet our Lord and her husband, David. Alma married David James Sample on June 12, 1937, at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. David passed away Sept. 28, 1974. Alma was a member of the former Mooers Grange. She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks and was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society of St Ann’s Church. Previous to her marriage to David, Alma worked as a housekeeper for the McGregor family in Ellenburg Depot. There were six children born to David and Alma who lived in and operated a dairy farm in Cannons Corners, Mooers Forks. She was a wonderful, caring mother and wife who cooked, sewed and provided tender loving care to her family. Alma was most happy when she was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, also her cat, Tiger and dog, Lassie. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donald and Norma Rabideau of Mooers; five sons and daughters-in-law, David Jr. and Sharron Sample Jr. of Altona, Bruce and Scarlett Sample of Mooers, Alton and Sandra Sample of Mooers Forks, George and Denise Sample of Mooers Forks and Roger and Sally Sample of Mooers Forks; a sister, Mildred Sample of Rouses Point; a sister-in-law, Geneva Gadway of Mooers Forks; Patricia Bracey of Rouses Point, her goddaughter whom she loved very much; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased, besides her husband, David, by one sister, Lena Hart; and four brothers, Louis, Dennis, Leo and Lawrence Gadway; and a grandson, Neil Sample. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Burnell Sr., 76, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 25, 1925, the son of Arthur and Cecilia (Ayotte) Burnell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as a roofer for the Tilo Company in Plattsburgh and Poughkeepsie for many years. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene H. and Sarah Burnell Jr. of Morrisonville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Claudia and Ellsworth Brown of Belle Vernon, Pa., Faith and Donald Spears of Kerhonkson, N.Y., Wendy Decker of Peru and her companion, Terry Berry, and Donna Wagner of West Chazy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph Burnell of Plattsburgh and Herbert and Gladys Burnell of Champlain; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marjorie Dupraw of Clayburg, Esther and Hollis Moore of Dover Plains, Elizabeth and Joseph Miller of Bridgeport, N.Y., and Betty and Andy Miller of Ellenburg; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Vera F. (Hargett) Burnell died in 1994 and a brother, Donald Burnell, also predeceased him. Seymour, 81, of Champlain, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born April 8, 1920, in Rouses Point, the son of Joseph and Eva Seymour. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Labonty) Seymour; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert and Shirley Seymour of Connecticut, Francis Seymour of Champlain, Richard and Shirley Seymour of Mooers Forks and Allen and Heidi Seymour of Champlain; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jean and Garry Bickes of Hemmingford, Quebec, and Linda Favreau of Champlain; three brothers, Pat Seymour of Watervliet, Joseph Seymour of Watervliet, and Donald Seymour of Oklahoma; one sister, Mary Moran of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Conrad, 86, of 7 O’Neil Avenue, Johnstown, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at home. He was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Frank G. and Elsie Griffith Conrad. Mr. Conrad was a graduate of Collingdale (Pennsylvania) High School, and attended Drexel Institute. He was employed by General Electric Switch Gear Division in Philadelphia, the Scott Paper Company Engineering Division, Philadelphia, Georgia - Pacific Paper Division, Plattsburgh, and Mohasco Company Engineering Division, Amsterdam, retiring in 1981. Upon retirement, he established a machine design consulting business, working primarily for Quick Cast in Plattsburgh. Mr. Conrad is survived by his wife, Ruth S. Conrad; a son, Paul Conrad; and two granddaughters. Mr. Conrad made an anatomical gift to the Albany Medical College . There will be no funeral services or calling hours. Tromblee, 78, of Sherman Road, Mineville, N.Y., died Tuesday March 5, 2002, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, Elizabethtown, N.Y. He was born at Port Henry, N.Y., on Nov. 23, 1923, the son of Frank and Julia (Manning) Tromblee. A retired employee of International Paper Co. Ticonderoga, where he was a member of The Quarter Century Club. A veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Pat Ryan of Ticonderoga; three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Jack Tromblee of Ticonderoga, Richard and Gail Tromblee of Moriah and Paul and Nancy Tromblee of Mineville; Two sisters, Mary Kelly of Moriah Ctr, N.Y., and Frances Cobb of Ohio; 10 grandchildren; several great - grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Robare, 80, of Wynnefield Drive, and formerly of Plattsburgh and Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at the Glens Falls Hospital after a short illness. He was born on Feb. 16, 1922, in Ellenburg, the son of the late Eugene and Edith (Taylor) Robare and was raised by his late uncle, Elmer Taylor, who was very special to him. Mr. Robare worked for NY Telephone for 37 years, retiring in 1982 and was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Glens Falls Elks Lodge 81. He enjoyed his family and friends, home remodeling and repair, learning and working on his computer, playing cards and his friends at Ron and Cathy’s Restaurant in South Glens Falls. Besides his parents and uncle he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Patty Robare; his loving wives, Marion (Dillon) Robare and Barbara (St. Dennis) Robare; his sisters, Alma Parr and Naida Eisenbud; and his granddaughter, Bobbie Anne Johnson. Survivors include his children, Mary Lou Sweet and her husband, John of Argyle, Lynn Howatt of Bayonne, N.J., and Chris R. She was born in Malone, N.Y., on May 11, 1925, the daughter of Robert and Lena (Travers) McCabe. She was married to James G. Johnston Sr. on June 26, 1946, in St. Joseph’s Church, Malone.
