Published 3/6/02Dereck R. RinnPeru — Dereck R. Rinn, 35, of the Nelson Road, died unexpectedly at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh on Monday, March 4, 2002. He was born, in Plattsburgh on June 23, 1966, son of Richard F. and Sandra L. (Chisamore) Rinn. Dereck was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School in 1984. He was employed at Mountain Lake Television and joined the U.S. Army in 1987. Dereck was discharged in 1991 and went back to Mountain Lake Television. He enjoyed camping, shooting off rockets with his boys and computers. Dereck is survived by his wife, Toni L. (Rabideau) Rinn of Peru; his four children, Ashley Rinn, Dereck R. Rinn II, Dustin Rinn and Andrea Rinn, all at home; his father, Richard F. Rinn of Plattsburgh; one sister and brother-in-law, Lahoma and John Mangum of Plattsburgh; his paternal grandmother, Blanche Rinn of Plattsburgh; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews. Dereck was predeceased by his mother, Sandra L. Rinn; and his paternal grandfather, Frank Joseph Rinn. Calling hours will be private at the convenience of the family. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh. Donations in his memory may be made to his family. Francis R. MartinBeekmantown — Mr. Francis R. Martin, 78, of Route 22, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility. He was born in Rouses Point on March 31, 1923, the son of Louis and Mary (Gebo) Martin. Francis was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was formerly a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 179 in Peru and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. Francis attended Our Lady of Victory Church. He is survived by five sons and five daughters-in-law, Richard E. and Diane Martin of Altona, Emil and Connie Martin of Beekmantown, Kevin and Lori Martin of Beekmantown, Charles and Mary Martin of South Plattsburgh and Bernard and Donna Martin of Plattsburgh; four daughters and three sons-in- law, Audrey and Richard Stalnaker of West Virginia, Donna and Roger Forgette of Beekmantown, Cheryl and Andrew Coleman of Plattsburgh and Sandra Martin; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Goldie Lund of New Orleans, La., and Joyce and "Tiny" LaChance of Glens Falls; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Ruth Martin in 1993; his sisters, Arellia, Irene, Bertha, Gladys, Sylvia, Pauline and Eva; his brothers, George, Louis, Emil and Donald. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church. SampleMooers Forks — Alma Marie Sample, 89, of Mooers Forks, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh to meet our Lord and her husband, David. Alma married David James Sample on June 12, 1937, at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. David passed away Sept. 28, 1974. Alma was a member of the former Mooers Grange. She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks and was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society of St Ann’s Church. Previous to her marriage to David, Alma worked as a housekeeper for the McGregor family in Ellenburg Depot. There were six children born to David and Alma who lived in and operated a dairy farm in Cannons Corners, Mooers Forks. She was a wonderful, caring mother and wife who cooked, sewed and provided tender loving care to her family. Alma was most happy when she was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, also her cat, Tiger and dog, Lassie. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donald and Norma Rabideau of Mooers; five sons and daughters-in-law, David Jr. and Sharron Sample Jr. of Altona, Bruce and Scarlett Sample of Mooers, Alton and Sandra Sample of Mooers Forks, George and Denise Sample of Mooers Forks and Roger and Sally Sample of Mooers Forks; a sister, Mildred Sample of Rouses Point; a sister-in-law, Geneva Gadway of Mooers Forks; Patricia Bracey of Rouses Point, her goddaughter whom she loved very much; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased, besides her husband, David, by one sister, Lena Hart; and four brothers, Louis, Dennis, Leo and Lawrence Gadway; and a grandson, Neil Sample. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. HAPEMAN, age 73, of County Route 9, Bombay, N.Y., passed away Monday evening, March 4, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt., where he had been a patient since Feb. 7, 2002. He was born in Red Hook, N.Y., on Sept. 12, 1928, the son of the late Walter and Gertrude (Loft) Hapeman. There are no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Alice Ann Young, age 67, of Edward Street, Malone, N.Y., passed away March 4, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone. She had been transferred from the Alice Hyde Nursing Home on Saturday, where she had been a resident since October of 2000. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Jan. 2, 1935, the daughter of the late Richard and Emma (Johnson) Foster. There are no calling hours.
