Published 3/4/02Clark I. FloydPLATTSBURGH — Clark I. Floyd, 78, of 8 Lake Forest Drive, and formerly of the Sam Spear Road in Westport, died Saturday, March 2, 2002. He was born in Westport on May 22, 1923, the son of Justin B. and Mattie (Decker) Floyd. He married the former Hilda Hayward in Essex on April 15, 1948. Mr. Floyd was a former memeber of Wesport Federated Church. He owned and operated his own farm and was also a truck driver for the Town of Westport for many years, retiring in 1989. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd moved to Plattsburgh in 2000 to live near their son. Survivors include his wife; one son, Duane Floyd and his wife, Barbara, of Dannemora; two daughters, Mrs. William (Roxanne) O’Toole of Choctaw, Okla., and Mrs. Raymond (Lori) Perry of Pelham, N.H.; one brother, Carl Floyd and his wife, Theresa, of Westport; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Coughlin of Latham, N.Y., and Mrs. Ida Brankman of Weestport; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Donald Floyd, and three sisters, Hazel Floyd, Hilda Wright and Ethel French, died earlier. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Essex in the spring. Burnell Sr., 76, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 25, 1925, the son of Arthur and Cecilia (Ayotte) Burnell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as a roofer for the Tilo Company in Plattsburgh and Poughkeepsie for many years. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene H. and Sarah Burnell Jr. of Morrisonville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Claudia and Ellsworth Brown of Belle Vernon, Pa., Faith and Donald Spears of Kerhonkson, N.Y., Wendy Decker of Peru and her companion, Terry Berry, and Donna Wagner of West Chazy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph Burnell of Plattsburgh and Herbert and Gladys Burnell of Champlain; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marjorie Dupraw of Clayburg, Esther and Hollis Moore of Dover Plains, Elizabeth and Joseph Miller of Bridgeport, Conn., and Betty and Andy Miller of Ellenburg; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Vera F. (Hargett) Burnell died in 1994. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Bourdon, 90, of Palmer Street, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. He was born in St. Chrysostome, Quebec, Canada, on March 28, 1911, the son of Cyprien and Celina (Deneault) Bourdon. Victor was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh and was a carpenter in the area for many years. Victor is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jeannine Bourdon of Plattsburgh and Huguette and Melvin Bushey of Albany; two granddaughters, Chantal Bushey of Schenectady and Lisa Canty of Troy; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Wilfred and Giselle Bourdon of Chateaugay, Quebec, Rodolphe and Marceline Bourdon of St. Timothe, Quebec, and Real Bourdon of Plattsburgh; four sisters, Clara Premore of Plattsburgh, Irene LaMontagne of Verdun, Quebec, Marie King of Verdun, Quebec, and Laurette Berthiaume of Hemmingford, Quebec; and many nieces and nephews. MarcotteNORTH HUDSON — Napoleon "Polie" Marcotte passed away at his home on March 2, 2002, after a long illness. Polie was a World War II veteran and served with the U.S. Army in the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge he worked for Republic Steel Corp. and various other construction jobs before becoming North Hudson’s highway superintendent in 1993, where he worked until 2001, retiring because of his health. Polie was a member of the Knights of Columbus and held the rank of fourth degree; he was also a member of VFW, American Legion and Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by his wife, Doris E. Marcotte, and their five children: Robert and Jean Marcotte of Hague, N.Y., Nappy and Judy Marcotte of Moriah, Linda and Frank Anauo of North Hudson, Dory and Glenn Fiore of Blue Ridge, N.Y., and Mary and Rickie Stockwell of Port Henry. Polie and Doris have 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew him. Helen AshleyGRAYSON, Ga. — Mrs. Helen Ashley, age 83, of Grayson, Ga., died March 1, 2002. She is survived by two sons, William "Bill" Ashley of Athena, Ga., and Thomas Ashley of Brownville, N.Y.; four daughters, Mary Jane Foy of Grayson, Suzanne Therrien of Lawrenceville, Linda Nibert of Snellville and Sherry Poris of Roswell, Ga.; a brother, John Connell of Keeseville; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ashley, a devoted mother and wife, was a former resident of Peru, who had lived in Georgia for the past 17 years. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2002, at the Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. Interment will follow in East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens. GONYEA SR., 80, of 110 Cascade Road, Lake Placid, died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. He was born in Lake Placid on Sept. 29, 1921, the son of Julius and Emily (Kennedy) Gonyea.
