Franklin Joseph Tice II

Tupper Lake — Frank Tice, 50, of Main Street in Tupper Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, while snowmobiling through the Fish Creek area enroute to Malone.

He was born Jan. 3, 1952, in Gouverneur, the son of Franklin and Lois (O'Neil) Tice.

Frank grew up in Tupper Lake and graduated Tupper Lake High School with the Class of 1971. A football letterman, Frank was honored All-Northern center and defensive tackle.

Frank served with the U.S. Navy as a jet aircraft mechanic for several years. While in the Navy, Frank was crew captain of an elite team of jet mechanics who worked on experimental aircraft at the Patuxant Naval Air Station and had the honor to be aboard the first cruise of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.

On Aug. 1, 1981, Frank and the former Cathy Jean Ross of Pearl River, N.Y., were married at St. Margaret's Church in Pearl River, N.Y. Together they made their home, family and business in Tupper Lake.

For several years, Frank drove for Anchor Freight. As an independent trucker, Frank spent many years driving long haul across the U.S. As an independent owner-driver, he built F.J. Tice Trucking into a successful business with three drivers working for O.W.D.

He was a dedicated husband and father who loved his wife and children above all else. Frank will be remembered by family and friends as a man who lived life fully - he worked hard and played hard. He was well known locally for his Harley Davidson motorcycles, especially the "Boss Hoss." He was always ready to help a friend and those who knew him well, knew his heart was as big as he was. Frank will be missed by all who were part of his life.

He is survived by his wife Cathy of 20 years; his mother, Lois Tice of Tupper Lake; two sons, Franklin Joseph III and Joseph Franklin and a daughter, Nina Marie, all at home; three brothers, Gary and his wife Wanda Tice of Lake Lure, N.C., Addison John and his wife Karen of Saranac Lake and Stephan of Tupper Lake; two sisters, Catherine Tice of Las Vegas, Nev., and Mary and her husband Scott Chartier of Tupper Lake; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father and three brothers, Paul, Patrick and David.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 4 at 3 p.m. at Holy Name Church with Father Chris Carrara officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held in May at Holy Name Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick Tice Athletic Memorial Scholarship fund at Tupper Lake High School, the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or the Tupper Lake Fire Department.

Francis A. LaGoy

COLONIE — Francis A. LaGoy, 84, of Colonie, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, after an extended illness.

He was born in Malone and was the son of the late Frank and Leontyne (Trucheon) LaGoy.

Mr. LaGoy was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, serving with the 1296th Combat Engineers in the Pacific Theater.

He established the F.A. LaGoy Construction Company in Plattsburgh and later the Adirondack Aquarium. More recently, he worked at Albany Medical Center Hospital as building and grounds supervisor, from where he retired.

Mr. LaGoy was a communicant of the Church of St. Clare.

He will be remembered as taking great pride in this woodworking interest.

Francis is the beloved husband of 63 years to Ines (Wheeler) LaGoy; He is the devoted father of Jared LaGoy and his wife, Bernadette of Niskayuna, Janice Campbell and her husband, Richard of Lincroft, N.J., Mary Ellen Rielly and her husband, Michael of Medford, N.J., and Stephen LaGoy and his wife, Bonnie of Baldwinsville; He is the brother of Eunice Adams of Pleasantville, Eleanor Burke of Idaho, Theresa Hamilton of Delhi, Robert LaGoy of Plattsburgh and the late Bernard LaGoy; He is the cherished grandfather of Christopher and Michael LaGoy, Jan Mirchandani, Ann Polhemus, Laura and Scott Campbell, Allison Wrede, Michael, Thomas, Elizabeth and Andrew Rielly and Blake, Bambi and Brittnie LaGoy; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian burial on Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Clare. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie (Rt. 155 - south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Eugene H. Burnell Sr., 76, of Plattsburgh, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements were incomplete Saturday evening at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Mary E. Watts, 95, formerly of Silver Bay and Lord Howe Estates in Ticonderoga, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga following a long illness.

She was born in Hague on April 5, 1906, the daughter of James B. and Lilly (Fish) Fitzgerald.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 3, 2002, at 2:30 p.m. at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga. The Rev. George Fleming, pastor of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hague will officiate. A memorial Mass of Christian resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, March 4, 2002, at 3:30 p.m. at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hague, again with The Rev. George Fleming, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are with the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga.
