Alice Davis

PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Alice Davis, 79, of Davis Road in Cadyville, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at her home. She was born in Dannemora on March 28, 1992, the daughter of the late Paul and Victoria (Lagoy) Liberty.

Alice was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Davis, of 51 years; two daughters, Ellen Bowman of Cadyville and Nancy Mashtare of Cadyville; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Linda Davis of Cadyville; four grandchildren, Bobbie Staley, Hollie Davis, Kyle Bowman and Shawn Gushlaw; five great-grandchildren, Keenan, Paiden, Alison, Mackenzie and Aleese; and several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.

Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Brown Funeral Home in Cadyville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at noon from St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora. Burial will be later in the year in the Saranac Independence Cemetery in Saranac.

Robert R. Chagnon

PLATTSBURGH — Mr. Robert R. Chagnon, 70, of Military Turnpike, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Albany Veterans Hospital in Albany, N.Y. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 22, 1931, the son of Arthur and Hazel (Tebo) Chagnon.

Robert was an avid fisherman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Korea. Robert is survived by his wife, Pauline (Provost) Chagnon of Military Turnpike; two sons, Robert R. Chagnon Jr. of Altona and Lawrence Chagnon of Massachusetts; two daughters, Christine and Terry; three step-daughters, Sandy, Arlene and Debbie; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Theresa and Wayne Deno of West Chazy, Shirley Hicks of Buffalo, and Lorraine Grenier of Claramount, N.H.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Eileen Chagnon of New Jersey and Gary Chagnon; several grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church.

Interment will be at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Anna N. (Robbins) Denno

HAGUE — Anna N. (Robbins) Denno, 72, of Split Rock Road, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.

Born in Hague, June 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Benajah M. and bertha M. (Spaulding) Robbins.

Mrs. Denno was a lifetime Hague resident. She was a communicant of the Blessed Sacrament Church of Hague, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Mary’s#794 of Ticonderoga.

She was employed as a home-health aide for many years.

Mrs. Denno especially enjoyed her church, family and gardening.

She was a member of the Hague Volunteer Fire Department, the Hague Senior Citizens Club and the Hope Cancer Support Group of Hague.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard E. (Buck) Denno, on May 11, 2001. They were married 57 years. She was also predeceased by two sons, Joseph J. Denno in 1987, and Robert A. Denno in 1997.

Survivors include four sons, Bernard R. (Two Buck) Denno and Ralph H. Denno, both of Hague, Peter B. Denno of Springtown, Texas, and THomas J. Denno of Ticonderoga; nine daughters, Barbara L. Tyler of Anna Maria, Fla., Pamela A. Denno of Petersburg, N.Y., Deborah J. Reid and Michele M. Gautreau, both of Hague, Marie A. Dove of Bradentown, Fla., Theresa M. Gagliardi of Glens Falls, Mary Anna Osier and Bernadette A. Denno, both of Ticonderoga, and Maureen M. Germain of Middlebury, Vt.; and four sisters, Pauline Hill and Juanita Nestor, both of Ticonderoga, Beatrice Frasier of Hague, and Dorothea Liberty of North Hudson. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren, more than 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. The Catholic Daughers will gather for prayers at 7:30 this evening at the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10: 30 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church of Hague. The Rev. George P. Fleming, pastor, will officiate.

Interment will follow at the family plot of the Old Hague Cemetery of Hague.

Mary Alice Ida

MINEVILLE — Mary Alice Ida, 74, of 301 Sherman Road, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Glens Falls on Oct. 14, 1927, the daughter of George and Gladys (Lash) Carey.

She was the owner and operator of The Corner Store in Witherbee.

She is survived by her husband, Louis J. Ida, of Mineville; her daughter, Bernice J. Smith, of Branchville, N.J.; her grandsons, Jamie Toscano, also of Branchville, and Daniel Toscano, of Chishomn, Minn.; her great-grandchildren, Nicko Toscano and Jia Toscano; and her brother, Donald Carey of Hague.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at the Harland Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Toth officiating.

Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad.

Michael G. Rascoe

PLATTSBURGH — Michael G. Rascoe, 53, of Pine Street, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on July 24, 1948 the son of Harry and Mildred (Mitchell Desotelle) Rascoe.

Michael was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. He worked as a bartender for 20 years.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dale and Nicole Rascoe, Michael and Shelly Rascoe, Harry Rascoe, Joey and Christy Rascoe, all of Plattsburgh; one daughter and son-in-law, Piper and Craig Wells of Plattsburgh; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Gerald and Barbara Rascoe of Ogdensburg, Grace Rascoe of Plattsburgh, Dale and Esther Rascoe of Peru, Maynard and Peggy Rascoe of Plattsburgh; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Dennis Casey of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Emily, Alyson and Jeremiah Rascoe, and two more on the way; 15 nieces and four nephews.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Harry Rascoe, his wife Brenda (Latour) Rascoe, and one brother, Richard Rascoe.

Calling hours will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Fletcher Allen Hematology/Oncology Unit or Sidney Kimmel Cancer Research Center, San Diego, Calif.

Wallace C. Brooks

Wallace C. Brooks, 91, of Ellenburg Depot, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Ellenburg on March 27, 1910, the son of Wallace W. and Cora (Dutton) Brooks.

He was a dairy farmer for many years and was the president of the Ellenburg Milk Co-Op for over 25 years. He was the co-founder of the Allied Federation Milk Association and was director until he retired. He was a member of the Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge in Ellenburg and the Plattsburgh Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd degree member of the Oriental Temple in Troy. He was a member of the Ellenburg United Methodist Church.

Wallace was a caring, unselfish person whose life was centered around family. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, sharing his love for nature with Armond and Pearl’s children and grandchildren. Politically, Wallace wanted government to help people in need. He was interested in local and world events and kept informed by reading several papers and listening to news reports. He enjoyed literature, music, art and quiet meditation.

Wallace’s life served as an example of how to treat others. He was a true gentleman, giving everyone he met respect, dignity and compassion. He was always willing to help and was forever patient and understanding when problems arose. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by two sisters, Rayda Carlton of Milford, Conn., Hurretta Lewis of New Haven, Conn., his friends, Pearl and Armond LeClair of Ellenburg Depot and their children Stacey LeClair of Ellenburg Depot, Amanda and Terry Poupore of Churubusco, and several nieces and nephews.

Four sisters, Beulah Hogle, Helen Colgan, Gladys Moore, and Sylvia Soper, three brothers, Lyle, John, and Charles Brooks, and his longtime companion, Fern Baker, all died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Sheldon Hill cemetery in Ellenburg Depot in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.
