Published 2/18/02Marjorie H. BrunelleCHAZY — Marjorie H. Brunelle, 98, formerly of Fiske Road, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Kingston, N.Y., on April 24, 1903, the daughter of the REv. George B. and Anna B. Mead. Marjorie attended Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y., following high school, and graduated in 1924. She taught in various schools in New York, including schools on Long Island and in Newburg. She was a member of Christ & St. John’s Episcopal Church in Champlain. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Mead; one sister, Dorothy Mead; her first husband, Charles Henshaw; and her second husband, Edward Brunelle. At the request of Marjorie, there will be no public calling hours. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the R.W. Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh. Burial will take place in the spring in Riverview Cemetery in Chazy. Donations in her memory may be made to the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department. Francis J. LawrenceKEESEVILLE — Francis J. Lawrence, 79, of Main Street, died Feb. 16, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born May 20, 1922, in AuSable Forks, the son of Howard and Bessie (Hopkins) Lawrence. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the army in the 386th Bombardment Group. He was employed as a teller at the National Commercial Bank and Trust Co., and then became branch manager for 35 years retiring as assistant vice president of the Key Bank in AuSable Forks in 1982. Fran was president and then treasurer of the AuSable Forks Rotary Club, troop master of Boy Scouts Troop 39 in Plattsburgh, and a member of the AuSable Forks High School Alumni. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Wright Lawrence of Keeseville, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1946, in AuSable Forks. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Francis James Jr. and Diane Lawrence of Philadelphia, Pa., and Marc Lawrence of Vero Beach, Fla; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Michael Boire of Plattsburgh and Marianne and Jerry Richards of Lubback, Texas; four grandchildren, Heather Williams, Christopher Lawrence, Matthew and Jason Boire; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Roland Dorothy Spring of Wilmington; a brother, Howard Lawrence of Redford; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Robert Lawrence, predeceased him. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the AuSable Forks United Methodist Church, AuSable Forks. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, AuSable Forks. Elizabeth A. BabbieCHAMPLAIN — Elizabeth A. Babbie, 63, of Champlain passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born Dec. 19, 1938, in West Chazy, the daughter of Wilfred and Elizabeth Roberts. Elizabeth enjoyed bingo and playing cards with her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving children, one son, Orville "Frenchy" Babbie and his companion, Connie Ryan, of Ellenburg Depot; three daughters, Bonnie Strack and her fiance David Rabideau of Mooers Forks, Penny Castine of Champlain, Sally and Todd Jarvis of Champlain; four brothers, Francis and Helen Roberts of Champlain, Ronald and Janet Roberts of Mooers, Morris and Pauline Roberts of Champlain, Gerald and Joanie Roberts of Mooers; four sisters, Margaret and Jack Dragoon of Mooers, Doris and Daylord Trombly of Mooers, Dora Filion of Mooers, and Evelyn Beebe of Coopersville; three brothers-in-law, Homer Babbie of Newcomb, Stanley LaPier of West Chazy, and Rufus Rabideau of Ellenburg Depot; one sister-in-law, Rita Roberts of Scotia; a daughter-in-law, Carol Babbie of Rouses Point; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Strack, Jesse Rabideau, Kristen Babbie, Siara Babbie, Harold "Buddy" Babbie, Brandon Castine, Rebecca Jarvis and Adam Jarvis; she is also survived by a companion, Arthur Keddy. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Harold Babbie, who passed away Feb. 9, 1975; three sisters, Lita LaPier, Rita Rabideau and Pearl Babbie; one brother, Richard Roberts; one son-in-law, Kevin Castine; and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Beebe and George Filion. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Champlain Fire Department EMS.
