Published 2/17/02Edna A. ReyellBeekmantown — Edna A. Reyell, 81, of O'Neill Road, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Beekmantown on May 10, 1920, the daughter of Israel and Delima (Bourdon) Favreau. Edna married Leonard Reyell on June 25, 1945, at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Leonard died in 1993. Edna was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Plattsburgh Senior Council, the Beekmantown Grange, worked at St. Joseph's Bingo and was a member of the Clinton County Disabled Veteran's Auxiliary. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Joseph's Church and of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Edna was a avid bingo player and enjoyed attending the Senior Center in Plattsburgh. Edna worked for the BFD Mill in the 1940's and then for the Harold Healey family for two years and later for the Green Thumb Program in Beekmantown. Survivors include one sister, Florence Powers of Plattsburgh; one brother-in-law, Clarence Reyell of Plattsburgh; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Favreau of Massena and Ella Favreau of Morrisonville; several nieces and nephews; and two very close friends, Howard and Betty Rivers of West Chazy. She was predeceased by 15 brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens, Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh. Memorial donations may go to St. Ann's Shrine in Isle LaMotte, St. Joseph's Church Memorial Fund or the American Heart Association. Donald A. BakerNew Russia — Donald A. Baker, 87, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. He was born in Westport, N.Y., on Nov. 2, 1914, the son of John and Frances (Simmons) Baker. He was a very outgoing person who loved meeting people and especially loved children. He is survived by his wife Anna (Qua) Baker of New Russia; one daughter, Cheryl A. Olson of Rochester, N.Y.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Wendy A. and Travis Burch of Rochester and Hillary L. Olson Demme and her husband Micheal of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday, Feb. 17th, from 10 a.m. until noon at W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, followed with a funeral service at noon at the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to Families First, Water St., Elizabethtown, NY 12932. Charles H. O’TooleApopka, Fla. — Mr. Charles H. O'Toole, 65, formerly of Campsite Road in Schuyler Falls, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at the Sun Belt Nursing Home in Apopka. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Jan. 5, 1937, the son of the late Charles V. and Rena (Aubrey) O'Toole. He had made his home in Schuyler Falls until moving to Apopka in November 2001. Charles had worked for EBASCO Engineering Co. in New York City and he enjoyed camping. He married the former Joan M. McCarthy in Montreal on May 3, 1958. He is survived by his wife, Joan M. (McCarthy) O'Toole of Apopka; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. "Chuck" and Alane O'Toole of Hornell, N.Y.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Joseph Codney of Schuyler Falls and Karen O'Toole of East Providence, R.I.; three grandchildren, Katie and Brian O'Toole and Jennifer Tedford; and a great-grandchild, Brianna Tedford. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Rouses Point. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Tammy Roberts-GilbertPlattsburgh — Tammy Gilbert, 41, of Dannemora, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y., after a year-long battle with cancer. She was born July 6, 1960, in Utica, N.Y., and attended Northeastern Clinton Central School in Champlain, N.Y. Tammy worked as a housekeeping supervisor until being diagnosed with cancer in January of 2001. She loved to travel and spent many years living in Maryland and Connecticut. Tammy returned to New York to surround herself with family and friends while she bravely battled her disease. Tammy was a free spirit who was happiest spending time with those she loved. She enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife and her cats. She also liked collecting trinkets and unusual pieces of jewelry. She is survived by her husband, Chris Gilbert of Dannemora; a daughter, Shane Roberts of Troy, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Desiree and Shawn, who were her pride and joy. Other survivors include her mother Judith of Dannemora; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Daniel Roberts of Moores, Mark and Rebecca Roberts of Dannemora and Scott and Laura Roberts of Glens Falls, N.Y.; a niece, Nicole Roberts; two nephews, Scott Jr. and Adam Roberts; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her father, Frank Roberts, passed away in 1991. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to R-5 nursing staff at CVPH and a special thank you to her close friends, Tammy Collins of Plattsburgh and Cindy Gilmore of Lyon Mountain, who she loved very much. Margaret "Peg" Polites, 82, of Wellington Street in Malone, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. She was born in Malone on Nov. 28, 1919, the daughter of Leslie and Blanche (Coryea) Day. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Thomas Gwinn officiating. Spring burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery. |
