She was born April 30, 1965, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the daughter of Alfred "Sam" and Glendine (Rice) Bemis. Amanda is a most loved mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. Amanda is survived by her parents, Sam and Glendine Bemis of Crown Point; her daughters, Samantha and Paige Dolback; her sister, Jennifer Siver and her husband, Ron; her twin brother, Dean Bemis and his wife, Judy; her grandmother, Geneva Bemis; her grandfather, E. Victor Rice; four nieces; one nephew; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Crown Point Methodist Church in Crown Point, N.Y. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery in Crown Point in the spring. Elizabeth Pernick HeiningerWHITAKER, PA. — Mrs. Elizabeth Pernick Heininger, 94, of Whitaker, Pa., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Braddock General Hospital in Braddock, Pa. She was born on July 13, 1907, in Fernwood, Pa., the daughter of Joseph Pernick and Anna (Matyashcik) Pernick. She married Frank Heininger Nov. 23, 1927, in Brackenridge, Pa., and they made their home in Whitaker, Pa. Mr. Heininger predeceased her in 1983. She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. One sister, Mrs. Pauline Lapitsky of Monroeville, Pa., survives. Mr. and Mrs. Heininger were the parents of four children, all survive. They are Elizabeth Jane Okest, widow of Louis Okest of North Versailles, Pa., twin sons, Robert Heininger and wife, Rosemary of Gibsonia, Pa., and Raymond Heininger and wife, Elizabeth of Constable, N.Y., and Shirley Schmidt and husband, Roger of Peabody, Mass. There are 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great - granddaughter; Additionally many nieces and nephews. Friends and family were recieved at George Irvin Green Funeral Home Inc. in Munhall, Pa. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Saint Rita’s Roman Catholic Church in Whitaker, Pa., at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002. Rev. Aubin Adams was celebrant. Burial was in Calvary Cemeter in Pittsburgh, Pa. Mrs. Heininger was a homemaker who loved and cared for his family well. Her children all state that she and Mr. Heininger "gave them a wonderful and happy childhood!" She was a delightful mother-in-law and grandmother who is remembered with joy. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, strong family bonds and good will to all. James D. "Jamie" ScharpfMORIAH CENTER, N.Y. — James D. "Jamie" Scharpf, 36, of the North Hudson Road in Moriah Center, N.Y., died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in Crown Point, N.Y. He was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., on Feb. 12, 1965, the son of Robert and Carol (Brace) Scharpf. Jamie graduated from Moriah Central School in 1983. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from October 1983 to October 1987. He was employed in the construction and carpentry field. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Beside his parents he is survived by; his brother, Craig Scharpf of Witherbee, N.Y.; his sisters, Cathie Swartout of Coxsackie, N.Y., Karen Mitchell of Elizabethtown, N.Y., and Laurie Trepanier of Mineville, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Scharpf Jr. Calling hors will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. Linda Jarvis Groleau Jewtraw, 46, of Shepard Street in Malone, N.Y., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at her home, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc. She was born in Malone, Jan. 20, 1956, the daughter of the late Robert and Joyce (Jarvis) Groleau. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Moody officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Bosco Cemetery in Malone. Paula M. Giroux, 76, formerly of Route 9, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 18, 1925, the daughter of Wilfred and Corine (Guay) Giroux. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Interment will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A full obituary will be run in Friday’s paper. Eleanor L. Bleaux, 80, of Eleanor Way, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at her home. Shelters, 93, a resident of Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid and formally a resident of Cascade Acres, died Feb. 13, 2002, at the Uihlein Mercy Center. She was born in Malone, N.Y., July 26, 1908, the daughter of John and Ida (Durand) Reyome. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at noon at the Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel. Rev. Patrick O’Reilly, chaplain, will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery.
