Published 2/8/02Dianne BlanchardBurlington, Vt. — Mrs. Dianne Blanchard, 59, of Route 9B in Champlain, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt. She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Irvin and Norma (Favro) Brown. She was an avid "bingo" player and loved to fish. Dianne was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Robert whom she married on Nov. 4, 1972; two daughters and their companions, Donna Payant and Scott Witt of Schuyler Falls and Melissa Blanchard and Dennis Yelle of Cadyville; two sons, Terrance Payant of Champlain and Thomas West of Chazy; one brother and a sister-in-law, Larry and Alice Brown of West Virginia; five grandchildren, Joshua and Kayla Wells and Cody, Jackie and Kylie Yelle; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by one brother, Garry Brown; and a grandson, James Wells. Calling hours will be Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel, where the Rev. William Reemer will officiate. Burial will be later in the year in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy. Donations in her memory may be made to the family. Joseph M. SeymourPlattsburgh — Joseph M. Seymour, 53, of Mount Wolf, Pa., and formerly of Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 3, 1948, the son of Raymond and Margaret (Provost) Seymour. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1971 and was employed at Imperial Paper Mill in Plattsburgh for many years. He is survived by his wife, Cecelia (Rabideau) Seymour of Mount Wolf, Pa.; 2 sons, William J. Seymour and Brian A. Seymour, both of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Joddie Seymour of Dover Plains, N.Y.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Alverda Seymour of Virginia, Leon and JoAnne Seymour of West Chazy, and William and Theresa Seymour of Plattsburgh; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Robert LaJoy of Peru; two granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Calling hours were held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Wayne SnyderPERU — Wayne "Chuck" Snyder, 93, of Peru, N.Y., formerly of Browning, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was born July 7, 1908, in Browning, the son of George C. And Laura (Steadman) Snyder. He was the fifth of eight children, al of whom, including his parents, have preceded him in death. He worked for the Burlington Railroad and the post office until he left for the Civilian Conservation Corps. From 1942 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Army as a warehouse foreman in George C. Patton’s battalion and was awarded the American Campaign Medal for Good Conduct, World War II Victory Medal, European / African / Middle Eastern Medal with three Bronze Battle Stars, one Service Stripe and two Overseas Service Bars. Mr. Snyder retired from his lifelong career as a gardener and handyman in Springfield and Alvin, Ill., in the 1980’s. He was a member of the Alvin Christian Church. In the early 1990’s he left Alvin to live with his niece, Jean Snyder-Kull of California. From there they lived in Maine and then New York. He is survived by a stepsister, Marcella Brodman of Virginia; two nieces, Jean Snyder-Kull of Peru, N.Y., and Patricia Tegeder of Jacksonville; and three stepnieces, Virginia Stambaugh of Browning, Rosy Aten of Macomb and Joyce Taylor of Jacksonville. Graveside. services and burial were Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in Browning Cemetery, the Rev. Jack Christian officiating. Jeffrey A. MayhewATWATER, CALIF. — Jeffrey A. Mayhew, 43, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 29, 1958, the son of Thomas P. and Marian (Lavigne) Mayhew. Jeffrey graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1977. Following school, he entered the U.S. Marines, where he served from 1978 to 1993. He later joined the Pennsylvania Active National Guard Reserves, where he served for eight years. Jeffrey worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisoners in Allenwood, Pa., for 8 years. In 2001, he accepted a position as supervisor of the Department of Recreation and Physical Fitness at the Federal Bureau of Prisons at Atwater, which he held until his death. He was an active participant in Boy Scouting and very much enjoyed being involved with children’s activities and helping them. He is survived by his wife, Deira Mayhew of Atwater, Calif.; one son, Michael Mayhew of Atwater, Calif. ; one daughter, Jessica Mayhew of Atwater, Calif.; his mother, Marian Mayhew of Plattsburgh; one brother, Thomas Mayhew and his wife, Jill of Glen Allen, Va.; two sisters, Victoria Dow and her husband, Michael of Selkirk, N.Y., and Susan Fountain and her husband, Colin of Glens Falls, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Angel E. Carvajal of Atwater, Calf.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in July of 1991. Memorial and graveside services will be held at a time to be announced. Donations in his memory may be made to the Feed the Children Charity. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. PATRICK H. GARNEY, 41, of Atomic Project Road in Ballston Spa, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Saratoga Hospital. He was born in Saratoga Springs, March 17, 1960, the son of Clarence and Marion Garney. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc. 39 East High Street in Ballston Spa. A calling hour will precede the service from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Lewis K. Haynes, 35, of Oak Street, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002. He was born in Albuquerque, N.M., on May 16, 1966, the son of Harold and Leena (Winterbon) Haynes. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
