Published 2/6/02Maynard L. JubertRENO, NEV. / PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Maynard L. Jubert, 67, of Reno Nev., and formerly of Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at his home. He was born in Sciota on Nov. 21, 1934, the son of Louis B. and Maude (Paro) Jubert. He married the former Virginia Duffy of Rouses Point, at St. Patrick’s Church, on Aug. 24, 1957. Mr. Jubert was a Mooers Central High School graduate. He attended Champlain College in Plattsburgh and the State University Teachers College in Potsdam. He received his bachelor of science degree in 1958 and a master of science, in education, in 1961 from the State University of New York, at Plattsburgh. Maynard was a teacher in the Plattsburgh City School District and taught primarily eighth grade science at the middle school. He truly loved teaching and inspired his students, retiring after 35 years of teaching, in December 1992. In 2000 he and Virginia moved to Reno, Nev. Maynard was a vibrant, generous spirit, with a passion for life and had a great sense of humor. He lived every day to the fullest and loved his family deeply. Maynard was a former member of St. John’s Church and sang in the choir for many years. He was also a founding member of the Plattsburgh Aeromodelers and a member of the Reno Radio Control Club. Maynard enjoyed traveling, running, reading, skiing and music. He played the trumpet for many years with Jim Frederick’s "Big Sound". He had a passion for his hobby of building and flying radio control model airplanes. Maynard was well known as an outstanding model builder and flyer. His home displays several airplanes that were not just balsa and covering, but magnificent works of art. Awards for his achievements are proudly displayed. Our tears for his death are as numberless as the joys we shared with him, but an illness called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy very slowly took away everything he loved. Even at the end, he was able to respond to his caregivers with a smile and a "thumbs up signal" as a thank you.
