Published 2/5/02Joseph F. NolanGreen Island — Joseph F. Nolan, 87, of George Street in Green Island, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 65 years of Marie (Goyette) Nolan. He was born in Mechanicville, son of the late Dennis and Mary (Noonan) Nolan. He has resided in Green Island since 1919 and had summered in Ticonderoga with his wife and family for many years. Joe had been employed by the Ford Motor Company in Green Island for 42 years, retiring in 1976. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Green Island. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his children, Joan Kehn Powell of Latham, Shirley Swigor (John) of Syracuse, N.Y., Dennis Nolan (Bernadette) of Lakeland, Fla., Mary Alice Nolan of Green Island, Betty Jacques (Michael) of Green Island, Patricia "Beebe" Eckels (Bob) of Colonie and Edward Nolan (Pam) of Ticonderoga; brother of John Nolan of Ticonderoga and the late Dorothy Brennan and Denis and James Nolan; also survived by 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral from the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue, Green Island on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. thence to St. Joseph’s Church in Green Island, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. (Seymour) OrmsbyBeekmantown — Phyllis A. (Seymour) Ormsby, 61, of Beekmantown, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Beekmantown on July 9, 1940, daughter of the late Raymond and Loretta (Mayo) Seymour. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Lisa and Gregg Bulriss of Chazy and Pam Ormsby of Plattsburgh; one son, Jason Ormsby of Morrisonville; two brothers, Alton Seymour of Beekmantown and Stanley Seymour of Beekmantown; one sister, Mary Paul of Beekmantown; two grandchildren, Tyler and Sara Bulriss; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. The Rev. Scott Seymour, Phyllis’ nephew, will celebrate the Mass. BarcombBeekmantown — Linda E. Barcomb, 53, of Spellman Road in Beekmantown, passed away at her home on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold E. Jennette and Viola M. (Pearo) Jennette of West Chazy. She married Arnold Barcomb Oct. 26, 1974. He died Oct. 27, 1989. She is survived by six brothers and three sisters; Joe Jennette of Carrabelle, Fla., and Bridgewater Comers, Vt., Russell Jennette and his wife, Evelyn of Riverside, Calif., Morris Jennette of Glens Falls, N.Y., and Harold, Marcel and Wendell Jennette of West Chazy; her sisters, Shirley Christoffersen of Oroville, Wash., Patricia Jennette of West Chazy, and Jill Prasad of Marysville, Wash.; her maternal aunt, Ada Vassar and her husband, Maynard of Chazy; her paternal aunt, Helen Fountain and her husband, Herbert of West Chazy. Linda also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in New York, California, Washington and Vermont. Linda also leaves Elmer G. Rice, her companion of more then ten years. Linda enjoyed being a homemaker, "bingo", cooking, her pool and was especially proud of the Christmas trees she planted around her home. Latham, 67, died at his home in Bloomingdale on Monday, February 4, 2002. He was born on Nov. 1, 1934, in Ogdensburg, N.Y., the son of Everett S. Latham and Susan (Murray) Latham. He married the former Anne Sweeney at St. James Church in Gouverneur. He grew up in Gouverneur and graduated from high school in 1952. In May 1956, he graduated from Colgate University, where he was a member of the pistol team and the marching band. He also attended graduate programs at St. Lawrence University and Plattsburgh State in the field of guidance and counseling. Mr. Latham was employed by Simons Fuel and Supply as a sales representative until 1957 when he became a licensed investigator with Retail Credit Company. Mr. Latham was employed by Market Basket during high school and also as a correspondent with the Watertown Times, Gouverneur Office. In May 1966, he joined the State of New York Department of Labor, working in the Saranac Lake, Malone, Massena, Ogdensburg and Elizabethtown offices, after completing 26 years of service, he retired in May 1990. Mr. Latham was an active member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief secretary and treasurer. He was also in the Rotary Club, CETA Advisory Board, Adirondack and Camp Gabriels Advisory Boards, Ad Hoc for Saranac Lake Economic Development and on several committees for NCCC and BOCES, Essex County Deputy Fire Coordinator, Boy Scouts of America and U.S. Army Reserve. Mr. Latham was instrumental in volunteering the New York State Labor Department as the official personnel department of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid. Mr. Latham was an avid Harley Davidson fan and enjoyed spelunking, bowling, model airplanes, model railroads, chess and pouring cement. Mr. Latham is survived by his mother, Susan Latham of Malone; his wife, Anne Latham; one daughter, Valorie Trost and her husband, David of Vermontville; and three sons, Michael Latham and his wife, Lisa of Saranac Lake, William Latham and his fiancee Becky Colby of Bloomingdale and Peter Latham of North Tonawanda; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Calling hours will be at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A fireman’s prayer service will take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. CLARINDA BULL, 82, formerly of the North Jay Road and the Senior Citizens Housing in Keeseville, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. She was born in AuSable Forks, April 2, 1919, the Daughter of George and Adelaide (Tender) Bushey. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
