Published 2/1/02Elva A BlaiseKeeseville — Elva M. Blaise, 74, of Route 9 in Keeseville, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at her home while under the care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Altona, Sept. 9, 1927, the daughter of Albert and Lillian (Manor) Bashaw. Elva was the head cook at the AuSable Valley Middle School for many years. She was a member of the Keeseville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1505 Ladies Auxiliary, Altar Rosary Society, a longtime member of the Keeseville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge 2072 Ladies of the Elks. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Hadley of Florida and Diane French of Keeseville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Wayne and Vicky Bleau of Fulton, and Gary Bleau of Fulton; one daughter-in-law; two stepsons, Larry Blaise of Keeseville, and Daniel Blaise and his wife, Debra of Keeseville; three brothers, Herbert Bashaw of AuSable Forks, David Bashaw of Port Kent, and Carl Bashaw of Peru; three sisters, Lorraine Donahue of Keeseville, Alberta Estes of Wilmington, and Kathleen Klages of Keeseville; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Howard Bleau, and second husband, Wilfred Blaise. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Members of the Keeseville Fire Department will meet at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. John’s Church in Keeseville. John James KelleyChazy — John J. Kelley, 67, of Bugby Road in Chazy, passed away while vacationing in Florida on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 23, 1934, the son of the late James Emmett and Ruth (Lawliss) Kelley. On August 27, 1955, he married Joyce Mary Hemingway at St. James Church in Cadyville, N.Y. He retired from Murnane Construction where he was employed as a superintendent for many years. He owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Hemingway) Kelley; two sons, James J. Kelley and his wife, Jan of West Chazy and Michael S. and his wife, Judy of Chazy; three daughters, Kathy Wilson and her husband, Brent of Chazy, Karen Jennette and her husband Dale of West Chazy and Sharon LePage and her husband, William of Chazy; eight grandchildren, Kelley Wilson Stevens and her husband, Chad, Kristi Wilson and her fiancee James Moser, Jamie and Jacqueline LePage, Karina Kelley and Carrie, Jeff and Scott Wyrick; and one great-grandchild, Amelia Stevens. He is also survived by two brothers, Carlton Kelley and his wife, Linda of Morrisonville and Tom Kelley and his wife, Jeanne of West Chazy; three sisters, Geraldine Trombley and her husband, Bernard of West Chazy, Elizabeth Kelley of West Chazy and Janet Trask and her husband, Donald of Zephyrhills, Fla.; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be remembered most for his giant heart, words of wisdom and wonderful sense of humor. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and devoted friend to all who knew him. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday from St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Interment will be in St. Alexander’s Cemetery in Morrisonville in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Jane B. QuinPlattsburgh — Mrs. Jane B. Quin, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, where she was a resident of the Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born in Plattsburgh, the daughter of the late Daniel and Catherine (Colligan) Behan. She was the widow of Creston Quin. She was an alumni of St. John’s School and Plattsburgh State University. She taught on Long Island, Willsboro and was employed by the City School District, where she first taught in the Scomotion Avenue School, Jr. High School, and later at the Monty Street School when it was first built. After her retirement, she did volunteer work at the CVPH Medical Center, worked with the Adult Literacy Group as well as working with other organizations. She was a communicant of St. John’s Church and was a member of the Rosary Society. She is survived by a sister, Margaret St. Andrews of Canton; six nieces and two nephews. A sister, Mary Ingalls; and two brothers, James and Frank Behan died before her. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Mount Carmel cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Irene M. GagnierDannemora — Irene M. Gagnier, 82, of Dannemora, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Ellenburg Center on May 12, 1919, the daughter of Edmund P. and Cora B. (LaBarre) Patnode. Before she was married she was a nurses aide at the Ogdensburg State Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Richard Harrica of Dannemora; a brother, Francis Patnode of Saranac; a sister, Marguerite Kelley of Keene Valley; and four grandchildren, Bree and Jeff Pisacane of Gansevoort, Shann and Chad Taylor of Burke and Pat and Jon. Her husband, Hubert Gagnier; four brothers, Lawrence, James, Bernard and Patrick; and a sister, Beatrice Phillips all died before her. Calling hours will be held at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora. Interment will be in St. Edmund’s Cemetery in Ellenburg in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country. The O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements. John P. Clancy, 89, of Greenwood Street in Lake Placid, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Uihlein Mercy Center. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 28, 1912, the son of John and Adelaide (Esposito) Clancy. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake. |
