Published 1/26/02Andrew I. GarrantRouses Point — Andrew I. Garrant, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 29, 1921, the son of Arthur and Sadie (Ferguson) Garrant. Andrew was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 through 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star. He was employed at Ayerst Laboratories in Rouses Point for 46 years. Andy was awarded a certificate of appreciation for numerous years of outstanding and dedicated service to the Rouses Point Fire Department. Memberships include, American Legion, 94th Infantry Division, Association and past member of the Plattsburgh Lodge of Elks. He was predeceased by a brother, Bud Garrant; and a sister, Madeline Bernard. He is survived by his wife, Tina (Jubert) Garrant; son, Jeffrey; a sister, Sally Garrant of Plattsburgh; a close family friend, Dean Pratt; as well as many other relatives and close friends. At Andy’s request, there will be no calling hours. Private funeral services and burial will take place in the spring. Donations may be made in his memory to the Rouses Point Fire Department Rescue Squad or the H.K. Freedman Renal Center in Plattsburgh. Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home. Ruth Sargeant WhiteAnnapolis, Md. — Ruth White, 90, of Annapolis, Md., and formerly of Dannemora, N.Y., died at Ann Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis on Jan. 24, 2002, after a brief illness. Mrs. White was born in Ellenburg, N.Y., on Aug. 4, 1911, the daughter of Lois and Ernest Sargeant. She graduated in 1933 with a teaching degree from the Plattsburgh New York Normal School. She retired in 1973 from a teaching career in the Northern Adirondack Central School System. Following retirement, she enjoyed extensive traveling, bowling and "bingo." She is survived by two daughters, both of Annapolis, Md., Helen LaDue and Ruth Ann Crisafulli and a son-in-law, Ron LaDue; three grandchildren and six great - grandchildren. Mrs. White is the widow of Charles P. White, who died in 1960. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Magoon; and two brothers, Allan and Bentley. Mrs. White was a member of the Dannemora United Methodist Church. In 1990 she moved to Maryland and has attended the Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, from noon to 2 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Arthur Northrup. Burial will be in Sheldon Hill Cemetery in the Spring. ROLLAND ROY BASHANT, 77, of Washington Street in Tupper Lake, died at his home Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002. He was born May 14, 1924, in Tupper Lake, the son of Solomon Moses and Ella Maude (LaBounty) Bashant. Calling hours were held Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake, N.Y., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place at the Holy Name Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, with Father Christopher Carrara. Henry E. "Hank" Killets, 88, of the Goodman Road in Malone, N.Y., died peacefully, early Friday morning, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home, while under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc. He was born in New York, N.Y., Nov. 19, 1913, the son of the late Stephan and Mary Horvath Killets Sr. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Malone, with Msgr. C. John McAvoy officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Innocence Memorial Garden in Beach Haven, N.J. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc., of Malone. |
