Loyal F. Meron

Plattsburgh — Loyal F. Meron, 86, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on March 6, 1915, the son of Frank and Mina (Bosley) Meron.

He was employed for many years as a foreman at Diamond International in Plattsburgh.

He was a veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was also a member of St. Peters Church in Plattsburgh, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Plattsburgh American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Leona (Provoancha) Meron; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Pamela Meron of Carlsbad, Calif., and Terry and Marlene Meron of Plattsburgh; and five grandchildren, Christopher Meron, Kara Meron, Ryan Meron, Shane Meron, and Brandi Meron.

Calling hours will be on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Jan 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St Peters Church. Burial will follow at the Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh.

Donald Trushaw

ZEPHERHILLS, FLA. —Donald Trushaw died Dec. 20, 2001, at the East Pasco Medical Center in Zepherhills, Fla. He resided in Lake Clear for 20 years and recently had moved to Swanton, Vt.

He was born in North Bangor July 4, 1923, the son of Fred and Ethel (Goyea) Trushaw.

He graduated from St Joseph’s Academy in Malone, N.Y., class of 1940.

He married Therese Bernier at the St. John Catholic Church in Liverpool, N.Y., with Father James J. O’Connell to officiate.

He was associated with Petrolane LP Gas Company and the Pyrofax Gas Company in Mexico, N.Y. He retired as a regional manager in Lake Clear, N.Y., with 30 years of service. He had worked as a telegraph operator for the New York Central Railroad.

He also served as a grand knight for the Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph’s Church in Malone.

Survivors are his wife, Therese; his daughter, Gayle and her husband, Stephen Bero of Liverpool, N.Y. ; his son, Stephen Trushaw and his wife, Barbara of Swanton, Vt., and his stepson, Norman Smith of Mountain View, N.Y.; one brother, Clarence "Sam" Trushaw; as well as eight grandchildren; three nieces one nephew and several cousins.

Central Florida Lion Eye and Tissue Bank was the recipient of Donald Trushaw's eyes.

A memorial Mass was celebrated Dec. 26, 2001, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Zepherhills, Fla. Interment will take place in the spring.

Florence Beaucaire

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Florence Beaucaire, 97, of Meadowbrook Health Care Facility and formerly of Eagle Acres Road in Chazy, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

She was born in Watertown, N.Y., on Jan. 3, 1905, daughter of the late Fred and Mary Armstrong.

Florence lived in Plattsburgh and summered in Chazy on Lake Champlain for most of her life.

She worked for Merkel’s Department Store for many years.

Florence is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Sweet of Nanuet and Patricia Reiche of Colonie; nine grandchildren; 14 great - grandchildren; six great - great - grandchildren; and one nephew, Lawrence Allen Beaucaire of Norfolk, Va.

She is predeceased by her first husband, 1st. Sergeant Anthony Stringer; her second husband, Orel "Babe" Beaucaire; and a daughter, Thelma West.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A graveside service will be held later in the year in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility’s Patient Activity Fund.

Lillian Regina Matthews

CHURUBUSCO — Lillian Regina Matthews, 96, of Churubusco, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena, N.Y.

She was born in Churubusco, N.Y., on Sept. 6, 1905, the daughter of Joseph and Nettie (Cusson) Poupore.

She was married to Thomas Matthews on Jan. 22, 1930, in St. Philomena’s Church in Churubusco. He predeceased her on Jan. 3, 1992.

Mrs. Matthews is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Matthews of Churubusco, N.Y., and Lester and Marjorie Matthews of Churubusco, N.Y.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Henrietta and Gerald Yelle of Massena, N.Y., and Vivian and Gaston Yelle of Chateaugay, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great - great - grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Rushford of Churubusco, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Matthews; a grandson, Jesse Matthews; a great - grandson, Jerry Matthews; a sister, Loretta Rushford; and three brothers, Hiram Poupore, Richard Poupore and Joseph Poupore.

Mrs. Matthews was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco and a member of it’s Altar and Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Court of St. Helen Catholic Daughters Association in Chateaugay. She served on the election board in the Town of Clinton for over 20 years.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, with Rev. Howard McCasland officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Immaculate Heart Cemetery in Churubusco.

Theresa A. Patnode, 74, of Maple Ridge Apartments in Malone and formerly of Churubusco, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

She was born in Montreal, Quebec, on Dec. 1, 1927, the daughter of Edouard and Diana (Trombly) Gervais.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco, with Rev. Howard McCasland officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

Chester W. Arthur, 80, of Grove Street in Keeseville, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.
