Charlotte L. Whipple

PLATTSBURGH — Charlotte L. Whipple, 93, of Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility and formerly of Smith Street in Dannemora and the Saranac Village at Will Rogers, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002.

She was born in Colebrook, N.H., on March 17, 1908, the daughter of Burleigh and Bessie (Hilliard) Kelsea.

She was a 1928 graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Charlotte married Karl L. Whipple. Karl died in 1971.

Mrs. Whipple was a member of the Dannemora United Methodist Church and a former member of the Monday Bridge Club and the Clio Club. Charlotte was choir director for the Dannemora Methodist Church from 1928 to 1969.

She was a member of the First Home Bureau in Dannemora in 1938 and the first president of the Dannemora Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Whipple started Music Programs at Dannemora and Morrisonville Schools in 1928. She was a music teacher in Dannemora, Morrisonville and Saranac retiring in 1969. She later worked for the Department of Human Services as an adoption case worker.

Survivors include two sons, David Whipple and his wife, Joan, of Brushton, N.Y., and Donald Whipple of Norwalk, Conn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Ward (Mary Margaret) Fredenburgh of Vermontville, N.Y.; one daughter - in - law, Verona Whipple of Bethel, Conn.; one brother, Robert Kelsea of Suncook, N.H.; six grandchildren; several great - grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Two grandsons, Scott and Mark Whipple; and two brothers, Burleigh and O. George Kelsea, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Saranac Independence Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dannemora United Methodist Church or the Dannemora Fire Department.

Albert Proulx

LISBON, N.Y. — Albert Proulx, 70, of Lisbon, N.Y., passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Claxton Hepburn Memorial Hospital in Ogdensburg, N.Y.

He was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Chazy, the son of Emile and Adele (Landry) Proulx.

Albert is predeceased by his parents.

Survivors include three sisters, Mary Proulx of Rouses Point, Pauline Proulx of Rouses Point and Jeanne Bechard of Plattsburgh; three brothers, Roger Proulx of Coopersville, Francis Proulx of Plattsburgh and Joseph Proulx of Rouses Point. He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews.

There will be no public calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church in Coopersville.. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon held at the Anchorage Restaurant in Rouses Point immediately following the Mass.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Barbara O. Stevenson, 88, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown. Arrangements are incomplete at this time with W.M. Marvin’s Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

REGINA M. CORYER, 79, of North Street in Ballston Spa, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs.

She was born in Plattsburgh, April 11, 1922, the daughter of Theophile and Anna Fountain.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street in Ballston Spa. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Saratoga Springs. Calling hours are on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
