Published 01/09/02Harriet C. HarringtonTiconderoga — Harriet C. Harrington, 91, formerly of Mt. Hope Road and most recently of the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at the Nursing Home. She was born in Sciota, N.Y., Jan. 23, 1910, the daughter of the late William and Edith (Mayo) Howe. Mrs. Harrington has been a resident of Ticonderoga since 1968, when she moved here from Rockdale, N.Y. She was employed in the cafeteria of the Mt. Upton School District of Mt. Upton, N.Y., for many years. Mrs. Harrington was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. She was a former member of the R.S.V.P. program of Ticonderoga. She was predeceased by her husband, Earle C. Harrington; and by one sister, Eleanor Phinney. Survivors include five sons, Clayton Harrington of Ticonderoga, John Harrington of Crown Point, James Harrington of Lusby, Md., Lynn Harrington of Ticonderoga and Earl Harrington of Putnam Station. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great - great grandchildren; and one nephew. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St, Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place Thursday at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at the family plot of the Forest Dale Cemetery of Crown Point in the spring. Martin L. MaplePort Henry — Martin L. Maple, 69, of Jackson Street in Port Henry, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at CVPH in Plattsburgh. He was born Jan. 17, 1932, in Port Henry, N.Y., the son of Ernest and Aileen (Hendrix) Maple. Martin served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a master sargeant in the Air National Guard in Schenectady. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars post 6962 in Port Henry and a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce King and Joan McLaughlin both of Port Henry; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry. Burial will be in the family lot in the spring. Raymond A. DesoSCIOTA — Raymond A. Deso, 86, of the Miner Farm Road, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, 2002, at theCVPH Medical Center. He was born in Coopersville on Sept. 14, 1915, the son of Noah and Frances (Mousseau) Deso. Mr. Deso was a member of St Louis of France Church in Sciota and the Mooers Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre. Mr. Deso married the former Gladys LaFlore at St. Louis of France Church in 1940. After the war, he worked for Church Oil Co. in Plattsburgh for three years then started Ray’s Oil Co. in Sciota in 1949, retiring in 1977. Mr. Deso also worked at Diamond National Paper Co. from 1960 until 1981. After retiring, he worked part time for the New York State Green Thumb Program until 1986. Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles Deso and his wife, Rose of Sciota; four daughters, Jane Mangine and her husband, Robert, Brenda Duprey and her husband, Robert and Patti Nutt and her husband, Michael all of Sciota and Julie Trombly and her husband, Todd of W. Chazy; one brother, Napolean Deso of Oswego, N.Y; 10 grandchildren; three great - grandchildren and; several nieces and nephews. One brother, Edward Deso; and three sisters, Kathryn Rushanna, Esther Rennadette and Elizabeth Deso all died earlier. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Louis of France Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Donations in his memory may be made the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department. Helen M. LaHartSARANAC LAKE — Helen M. LaHart, 88, formerly of Saranac Lake, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. She was born in Malone, N.Y., on Feb. 11, 1913, the daughter of George and Rose (Poissant) Mitchell. Mrs. LaHart worked in Lake Placid for the 1932 Winter Olympics and moved to Saranac Lake in 1934 and worked for the New York Telephone Co. She worked in the kitchen at River Street School and Saranac Lake High School, retiring in 1975. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters, St. Bernard’s Altar and Rosary Society and the St. Bernard’s School Mother’s Club She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great - grandmother. She married Clede LaHart on Jan. 22, 1936, in St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. He predeceased her on Nov. 30, 1981. She is survived by three sons, Thomas LaHart and his wife, Trudy of Peru, N.Y., David LaHart and his wife, Valerie of Panacea, Fla., and John LaHart and his wife, Donna of Lake Clear, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Marcy LaHart of West Palm Beach, Fla., Linda Johnston of Morrisonville, N.Y., John Christopher LaHart of Wilmington, N.C., Thomas "Chip" LaHart of Peru, N.Y., and Laura LaHart of Windsor, Colo.; five great - grandchildren, Jaelyn Johnston, Micalli Johnston, Matthew LaHart , Joshua LaHart and Kristin LaHart; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, George Mitchell and her mother, Rose Poissant; and was the last of eleven brothers and sisters. Private calling hours will be held at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid. Friends wishing to remember Mrs. LaHart may make memorial contributions to Carmelite Monastery, Beacon, NY, High Peaks Hospice or Uihlein Mercy Center in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, which is in charge of arrangements. Wendy C. Moore, 37, of Route 22, died unexpectedly, Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at her home. She was born in Chicopee Falls, Mass., on Dec. 16, 1964, daughter of Marvin A. Moore Sr. and Veronica Cayea. A private funeral will be held at the family’s convenience. Burial will be later in the year in Ingraham Cemetery in Ingraham, N.Y. Arrangements with Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. DR. LEON C. BENARDOT, 87, of 4034 Swansea-B, Deerfield, FL died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at the William Breman Jewish Home in Atlanta North-West, GA. He was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Salonika, Greece, the son of Joseph and Tamar (Rousso) Benardouth. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary - Murphy Funeral Home chapel, with Rabbi Kenneth White officiating. Spring burial will take place in Temple Bethel Cemetery section of Morningside Cemetery in Malone, N.Y. Friends, colleagues and families are invited to an informal reception following the service at Kilburn Manor on Milwaukee Street in Malone, NY.
