Robert M. Flack

TICONDEROGA — Robert M. Flack, 59, of Lower Chilson Road, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center of Burlington, Vt.

Born in Rutland, Vt., on Dec. 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Bertha (Shepard) Flack.

Mr. Flack was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was employed by International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for 39 years from 1962 until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the company’s Quarter Century Club.

Mr. Flack was a member of the NRA, and a supporter of Toys for Tots and the Youth Ice Auger competition in Moriah. He was also a member of the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Robert M. Flack; one brother, Clinton Flack; and his stepmother, Theresa Flack.

Survivors include three sons, Michael L. Flack of Moriah, Timothy P. Flack of Glens Falls, and Todd M. Flack of Moriah; one daughter, Patricia L. Flack of Glens Falls; two stepsons, Bobby Norton and Billy Norton, both of Ticonderoga; one sister, Betty Dolbeck of Crown Point; and six brothers, Edwin A. Flack of Ticonderoga, Leon G. Flack of Granville, Clayton B. Flack of Chambersburg, Penn., David Flack of Ticonderoga, Scott W. Flack of Plattsburgh, and Norman Flack of Rutland. He is also survived by five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

Donations in Robert Flack’s memory may be made to the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home Residence Fund, 1019 Wicker St., Ticonderoga, NY 12883, or the Shriners Hospital for Children, Burn Unit, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.

Exzelda I. Robare

KEESEVILLE — Exzelda I. Robare, 90, of Hill Street, Keeseville, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Keeseville on Aug. 16, 1911, the daughter of Alex and Mary Ann (Deno) Barber.

Mrs. Robare was a communicant of St. John’s Church and VFW Post 1505 Ladies Auxiliary member.

She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.

Survivors include six children, two sets of twins and three spouses, Jenny and Earl Hanson of Peru, Eugene and Harriet Robare of Willsboro, Sherwood and Maxine Robare of Keeseville and Shirley Laurencelle of Vermont, June Robare of Vermont and Francis "Wayne" and Sheila Robare of Keeseville; one sister, Gertrude Stranahan and one brother, Oliver Barber of Florida; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. in Keeseville.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 at St. John’s Church in Keeseville with the Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. John’s Church. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. in Keeseville.

Jerry M. Sabin

TUPPER LAKE — Jerry M. Sabin, 34, formerly of Tupper Lake, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at his home in Beaufort, S.C. Born on Aug. 9, 1967 in Malone, he was the son of Vern "Jr." Sabin of Tupper Lake and Susan Pochily of Johnstown.

Jerry attended local schools and worked for the Village of Tupper Lake before relocating to Beaufort in May 2001 where he was employed by True Green Land Care as a mechanic.

On June 15, 1991, he married the former Sonia Breton.

Jerry was an avid racing fan, enjoying both auto and snowmobile racing. His hobby was restoring older vehicles and was planning to open an automobile restoration shop.

He is survived by his wife; his parents; his grandmother Catherine "Nan" Sabin of Tupper Lake; one sister and brother-in-law, Clare and Fred Monette of Hawaii; a stepbrother Terry of Niagara Falls; and many cousins and friends in Tupper Lake and Beaufort.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home in Tupper Lake.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Church with the Rev. Chris Carrara celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery in May.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Jerry’s memory are asked to consider the Make a Wish Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Gladys M. McFadden

PERU — Gladys M. McFadden, 85, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Meadow Brook Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 3, 1916, in Lyon Mountain, the daughter of the late Florence and Elmer C. White. She was educated at Plattsburgh Normal School.

She married Warren Bromley McFadden.

Mrs. McFadden lived in Port Henry until she moved to Peru in 1956. She was widowed in 1959 and began working at the Peru Central School cafeteria until her retirement in 1979 as a cook manager.

She was involved with Peru Community Church and its choir for many years.

She was the mother of Michael John McFadden of Croton on Hudson, N.Y., and Douglas Warren McFadden of Surprise, Ariz.; grandmother of Teri-Lynn and Mark Stewart of Pine Bush, N.Y., and Richard and Christopher McFadden of Plattsburgh; great grandmother of Bryce, Parker and Destiny Stewart; sister of Beverly Van Diver of Black Mountain, N.C., and the late Robert Jenkins; aunt of Rebecca Landy Tell of Orchard Park, N.Y., David and Mark Landy of N.H., Caroline Jenkins Lowe, Barbara Jenkins Sullens of Ga., Marla McMullin of Waterford, N.Y., and Nancy Broughton of Austin, Texas.

Services were held Saturday. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.

Gary A. Sprague

MALONE, N.Y. — Gary A. Sprague, 63, of Country Club Road, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at his home with his loving wife at his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country.

He was born on May 7, 1938, in Fort Covington, N.Y., the son of Ernest and Evelyn (Lacomb) Sprague. They predeceased him.

He married Linda LaVigne on June 17, 1961, in St. Joseph’s Church in Malone, N.Y., with Rev. William Argy officiating. She survives.

Besides his wife of 40 years, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jamie Chamberlain of Peru, N.Y.; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Kris and Barbara Sprague of Albany, N.Y., and Derek and Jennifer Sprague of Malone, N.Y.; also six grandchildren, Danielle Sprague, Morgan Sprague, Brian Sprague, Cameron Sprague, Alexandra Sprague and Davis Sprague.

Mr. Sprague attended schools in Malone, N.Y., and graduated from Franklin Academy in 1956. He was an avid member of both the men’s basketball and football teams. He later graduated from the University of Miami (Florida) in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

In the early 1960’s, he worked for General Motors and Bakers Furniture for a short period of time. Later he became employed by the Naval Intelligence Service (NIS) and Defense Investigative Service (DIS). He spent the rest of his working career in this employ and retired in 1993.

He was very active in Malone Central School activities and served on the Malone Central School Board for 10 years, of which five were as president of the board. He and his wife spent many hours supporting various sports teams, mostly the girl’s varsity basketball team. He was a promoter and charter member of the F.A./St. Joseph’s Hall of Fame Committee.

He was a member of the Malone Golf and Country Club for the past several years. He enjoyed working at his camp in Mt. View, N.Y., and earlier in his life, participating in antique car shows with his collection of classic cars.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gary was a man known to all for his honesty and integrity.

Calling hours will be Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be concelebrated Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church with Msgr. C.J. McAvoy and Msgr. Dennis Duprey officiating. Spring burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the Lake Titus Road.

Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc.

EVA M. TOLOSKY, 100, formerly of Ellenburg Depot, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare facility in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements with the E.F. Drown Funeral Home in Ellenburg Depot are incomplete.

ALINE C. MARION, 78, of Whippleville, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.

She was born July 31, 1923, in Crylser, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Borromi and Victoria Bergeron Dignard.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 in Notre Dame Church with the Rev. Scott Seymour officiating.

Spring burial will take place at St. Helen’s Cemetery, Chasm Falls.

Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Inc.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or a favorite charity.
