Beverly B. Fenner

Peru — Beverly B. Fenner, 76, of the Bear Swamp Road in Peru, passed away, Jan. 1, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, following a lengthy battle with colon cancer and emphysema.

She was born in Elizabethtown, Oct. 28, 1925, the daughter of the late Bud and Sara (Hubbard) Burres.

Beverly worked at Barbara Moss in Plattsburgh for 17 years.

The happiest times of her life were raising her three children.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lester D. II and Evelyn Fenner of Stony Point, and Dorn B. and Mary Fenner of Chazy; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jake Bell of Peru; and three grandsons, Sean Fenner, Jason Fenner and Stephen Jock.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lester D. Fenner I, May 21, 2000.

There will be no public calling hours.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

John Belanger

Plattsburgh — John Arvin Belanger, 86, passed away peacefully among loved ones on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at his home on Shirley Avenue.

He was born in Cohoes, N.Y., on May 1, 1915.

John served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1940, where he was promoted to staff sergeant during World War II.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1466 in Plattsburgh.

Before moving to Plattsburgh, John retired from the United States Postal Service in Cohoes, N.Y., as a letter carrier after 30 years of service.

Survivors include Beatrice Lemieux, a dear companion of 20 years; and her family, all of Plattsburgh; one daughter and one son-in-law, Roberta and Ernie Sage of Largo, Fla.; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack and Karin Belanger of Hazel Green, Ala., and Ricky and Colleen Belanger of Cohoes, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Prior to his death, John had made a commitment to donate his body to the University of Vermont Medical College. He is hoping that his donation will help in the advancement of medical technology.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass which is to be held on Jan. 5, 2002, at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are with Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Pauline Joyce Facteau

PLATTSBURGH — Pauline Joyce Facteau, 75, of Oak Street in Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Born in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., on June 7, 1926, she was the daughter of Owen and Mary (Jordan) Conley.

She was married to Clayton Facteau on Jan. 23, 1943, in St. Bernard’s Church in Lyon Mountain.

Mrs. Facteau is survived by her husband of 58 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mitchel and Joyce Ann Facteau of Lyon Mountain, N.Y., and Guy and Lana Facteau of Dannemora, N.Y.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and H. Pete Hicks of Dannemora, N.Y., and Linda and Mark Stiles of Cadyville, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Patrick Hicks and fiancee, Jen Lennon of Morrisonville, N.Y., Matthew and Germaine Hicks of Cadyville, N.Y., Rebecca and Russell Lester of Morrisonville, N.Y., and Robert and Renee Stiles of Dannemora, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Bryce Hicks, Shawn Hicks and Audrey Lester; and a stepgreat - granddaughter, Arianna Lennon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Floyd Conley; and a sister, Marion Caron.

Mrs. Facteau lived in Lyon Mountain before moving to Plattsburgh in 1983. She was a member of Plattsburgh Senior Citizens Group and AARP.

Pauline was a very dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In her spare time, she enjoyed doing the genealogy for her family, friends and neighbors.

Calling hours will be held at Lyon Mountain Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in St. Bernard’s Church, with Msgr. Bernard Christman officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Holy Angels Cemetery in Altona.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Lyon Mountain Fire Department or Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home in Chateaugay.

Francis H. Prue

Peru — Francis H. Prue, 78, of Mannix Road in Peru, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Lowell, Mass., on Feb. 17, 1923, the son of Albert and Theresa (Quinn) Prue.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in World War II in Europe during the battles of Normandy, Central Europe, Northern France and the Rhineland. He served with the 225th Anti-Aircraft Searchlight battalion and was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, the European, African, and Middle Eastern Service Medals and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a past member of Knights of Columbus Council 255 in Plattsburgh and the local chapter of Teamsters.

He was a professional driver for many years until his retirement in 1985.

During his retirement, he drove school bus for Peru Central School for several years. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid bowler for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth A. Prue, whom he married October 10, 1942; his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Denise Prue of Chazy, Steven and Annette Prue of Gilbert, Ariz., and James and Kathryn Prue of Peru; a daughter and son in law, Julie (Prue) and William Everett of Peru; two brothers, James of Silver Springs, Md., and John of Plattsburgh; 12 grandchildren, Brandon and Karli Everett, Jason, Travis, Casey, Kathryn, Stefan, Jennifer, Joshua, Bryan, Adam, and Amanda Prue; and a brother in law, Harley Manor and his wife, Stella of Altona.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Marion Elkin and Madeline Duquette; and by his brothers, Kenneth and Thomas Prue.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made to the Peru Fire Department or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
